Vada Pav - The vegetarian Indian Burger

I want to take you to the streets of Mumbai today with the Mumbai's favourite street food Vada Pav.

Vada Pav - A famous street food from Indian city Mumbai which includes the deep fried mashed potato dumplings and bread bun. Potato dumplings - Vada placed inside the bread bun - Pav served with spicy green chutney. People are also calling it as Indian Burger.

So lets get started with the preparation and method.

For preparing 10 pcs of Vadas we need :

Medium Size Potatoes : 6-7 Nos.
Garlic : 20 Cloves
Ginger : 1/2 Finger Sized Piece
Green chilies : 6-7 Nos (As required spiciness)
Curry Leaves : Few Strands
Fresh Coriander leaves : 1 small bunch
Gram Flour : 1 Cup
Mustard Seeds : 1/2 Teaspoon
Turmeric Powder 1/4 Teaspoon
Garam Masala : 1/2 Teaspoon
Red Chili Powder : 1/2 Teaspoon
Chaat Masala : 1/2 Teaspoon
Salt : As required

:: PREPARATION ::

Boil potatoes and remove the skin. Make the paste of ginger, garlic and green chillies.

Mix water with the gram flour and make fine paste.

:: METHOD ::

Mash potatoes.

Heat pan and put oil. When oil is hot, put mustard seeds and curry leaves and fry.

Put ginger, garlic and chilli paste and stir until turns aromatic.

Add mashed potatoes. Mix it well with the help of a flat spatula.

Add above mentioned all spices and mix well and let it cook for few minutes.

In last add Salt.

Mashed Potato mixture is ready. Now add chopped coriander leaves for the fresh aroma and mix.

Once the potato mix is cool make the round balls with it.

Heat oil in a pan for frying the vadas. Once the oil is hot dip the potatoe balls in the gram flour paste and put it in the oil.

Once the Vadas are cooked from one side flip it to cook from other side also.

Once the Vada cooked from both sides, remove it from the oil.

Prepare all the vadas the same way.

Our vadas are ready and now its time for serving. Take Pav bun and cut it horizontally leaving one side joint.

Spread green chutney on inner side of the pav.

Put the vada inside the Pav and fold it.

Ta da.. Our Vada Pav is ready to eat. Enjoy it with more green chutney and fried green chili if you like more spicy. Enjoy.. πŸ˜‹
