Is childbirth regulation by the government good or bad?

in Hive Learners25 days ago

Hello, everyone.

Welcome to my blog and another wonderful edition of the Hive Learner's featured post. Many people really will not support the idea of the government telling them how many kids they are allowed to have; some want to have more than the stipulated number the government has set as a limit. Some will say it is modern slavery since they are not allowed to have as many children as they desire. Sometimes the government detecting our moves on certain things is good for both the people, the government, and the country's economy, but many won't see it that way, as we really do not support the idea of the government being in our businesses.

Becoming a parent is a very easy thing to do, but shouldering the responsibilities that come with parenting actually requires a lot from an individual. Parenting is not a journey you decide to embark on overnight; you must be prepared, lest it push you off balance. Bringing a child into this world makes them entirely your responsibility, but many people forget that, and they feel that being a parent is simply having children. But for real, what makes you a parent is how you handle the responsibility of the child put under your care.

It is really sad how some people just want to keep having kids without even checking their financial capabilities. In Nigeria, many have been deceived by the saying "Children dey bring blessings," which means children bring blessings upon those who have them. Children are indeed blessings, but you have to take care of them before they grow up and become that blessing. Children bring blessings, but that does not mean you should have them when you cannot take good care of them. The country's economy is not even friendly; shouldering a single child's responsibility is no longer easy, especially when you have six or more.

Funny how we expect a couple to start having kids immediately after marriage, and if they fail to, we start asking questions. We get married for procreation, but that is not the only reason people get married. Whether the couples are ready or not, we expect them to start procreating immediately. Growing up in the northern part of the country, I saw a lot of reasons why regulation of childbirth should be implemented. A couple could give birth to over 12 kids, and once they have reached a certain age (age 8, 9, 10, and sometimes even younger), they are sent out to care for themselves by begging on the streets. If you won't take care of them, then why give birth to them?

Should the government regulate childbirth?

Everything with an advantage has a few disadvantages as well. The government regulating childbirth is something that will benefit both the government and the people.

So my answer to this is yes, some people need to be stopped by the government's involvement in regulating childbirth. That is the only way we get to stop a lot of people who feel having kids is their own way of having fun. A man who is not even financially buoyant enough already has 12 kids but still wants to have more. It is only with the involvement of the government that people like this can be stopped. Also, with childbirth regulation, we can avoid overpopulation.

It is not modern slavery, it is planning, and it is something that should be instilled in families with fewer economic resources. We must stop the irresponsibility of parents, that child who is growing up at this time and has a large number of siblings will believe that this is normal and will repeat this behavior. Thus, there will be a spiral from which there will never be a way out and delinquency will grow, and the fact that children do not study because they work to support the family.
