The world is evolving at a very high pace, and that's all thanks to the innovative impact of artificial intelligence and technology that has continuously improved so many aspects, and these over the years have reshaped the job market in our world today. As many can't help but wonder if their current career would survive the unavoidable AI dominance in jobs in the near future, and today I'd be taking a critical look into the danger these pose to my career and if it has the capacity to replace me and my go-to career in a situation where mine didn't survive the evolution of AI.

To start with, while I'm a teacher and would have loved to defend my craft and how AI, although good and impactful, doesn't have the emotional intelligence and empathy to do my job the way I'd have done it as a human, I won't be talking about that because I've already written an article on this subject matter defending that course, so rather than focusing on that, I'd just enumerate key points based on what I've noticed regarding AI in my career path and then delve into my alternative career to escape the extinction of humans in most workplaces due to the evolution of AI, which has led to automation and ultimately rid humans of their jobs.

So as a teacher, although I get tired, exhausted, and overwhelmed when I work for too long, these are some ways artificial intelligence would better me in my job, coupled with first-hand virtual instructional materials that aid classroom learning and the better understanding of the students.

However, in my part, I can also do that, utilizing manual instruction aids as well as technical ones, but like I said earlier, the AI has it on lapses in the aspect of emotions, understanding human behavior and feelings, and also having empathy to realize what the drawback truly is, like I'd do with a human who has undergone the same before.

I believe that my profession as a teacher would survive the impending AI evolution, and below I've highlighted some other career paths that would survive the same. I also stated a few reasons why I felt they'd survive the AI evolution, so these are both careers that would survive and the emerging ones.

Healthcare Professionals: While AI has really done a great job in redesigning and upgrading our healthcare department, it still can't overshadow the impact of humans in that field, and because it's a career that involves interactions with humans and cutting into them for surgery and the like, AI doesn't have feelings or empathy to know what humans are truly going through in such situations, and it'll only depend on what all their vitals are saying to decide on what to treat them on, and as we all know, that doesn't always go well, especially when the vitals show something that's accurate but requires something else to help the patient.

Robotic Engineers: This is a field that, although it already exists, is less of a priority presently. However, in the near future, when automation is the ordeal of the day, loads of people would be needed in that aspect, and I believe those in that aspect would be in high demand and would be heavily appreciated and compensated for.

Cyber security expert: being in an age when AI has taken over most sectors, it indicates that the era would thrive as digital interactions would have transformed beyond what we're seeing now, and that's also indicated that most people will be vast in navigating their part across the web space, including cybercrimers, and so comes the need to place a high demand for experts in the field of cybersecurity to help protect and expose the bad guys.

  • Renewable energy expert
  • Education and Training
  • Creative professional, and many more to mention, but few.

So is my career safe from this impending evolution? Like I said earlier, yes, I'm safe. As a teacher, I'll still be needed in my field due to my human connections trait and the impact that it can have in understanding and discovering loopholes in why students aren't improving in their studies. My empathy would also serve as a cutting-edge tool that places me above AI; however, I'd need to adopt many technological devices and learn to do so to enhance my impact.

So I've been thinking about which other career I can delve into in the near future that would be really appreciated during an era when AI has taken over almost everything we do and is mostly what is seen in our daily lives and across the streets, and I came to the conclusion that being a social media influencer, comedian, or host of one program that's either funny, inspiring, or educational would really be appreciated then, and I state my reasons for that below.

So I've watched many futuristic movies that delve into the future of the world when almost everything is driven by artificial intelligence, automation, and overall technological dominance, and one thing I realized is that most people tend to get bored of seeing everything done for them by bots and such, which usually leads to laziness and reduces the rate at which people go out.

and I believe a host in one of these fields I highlight would give people in that era a sense of human interaction, fun, and what it feels like to live in a time when there's no technology. That's because I plan on hosting a program that showcases me using manual tools that would have been deemed obsolete then, and I'm having a feeling that many would find it fun, and new generations who don't know what those periods feel like would look forward to my content that has gaps into the past.

A career is not just defined by one's subject or course of study; instead, it goes deeper and includes the skills an individual acquires and the capacity to adamantly improve and get better over the years. I see this view as one that would help people be more flexible, open to learning, and make changes that make them better and indispensable in their career path.

Career isn't like we used to view it as being pegged to just one field and things that revolve around it; career is way beyond that; it encompasses all I listed above, such as our skills, versatility, and experience. All of these, put together, make a career.

In conclusion, the age of AI and automation dominance is near, and I don't think there's anything we can do to escape it because it's even what everyone is longing for without thinking of how it'll affect their career. Regardless of when AI comes into light, we humans who want to survive that time and remain relevant must start improving ourselves, focus on leveraging skills, and be more flexible to adopt new knowledge, skills, and much more, because a career is more of a journey than a destination we arrive at when we start a journey in such a field.
