Princess Mononoke, released in 1997, directed by Hayao Miyazaki (as always making works of art) and produced by Studio Ghibli. The film is set in Muromachi-period Japan, introducing us to a world where the spiritual and the earthly are intricately intertwined, where the ancient gods of the forest face the inexorable march of human progress. The last Emishi prince, Ashitaka, saves his people from the attack of a possessed boar (which turned out to be a god), being wounded by it in the process and left a mark on his arm which was a curse and he has to undertake a journey to find the cure for the curse.

One of the highlights of "Princess Mononoke" is its ability to present a balanced narrative. Visually, the film is a marvel, like most of the studio's productions, I love how they put a lot of love into their films and it shows in the quality of these. When you see this movie you really don't feel that time has passed with respect to a studio movie, you can see the most recent like "The Boy and the Heron" and this one and you can think that they came out in the same year, I don't mean that's a bad thing, on the contrary, it's beautiful to see that the studio has stayed true to their characteristic style and that's admirable. The soundtrack is also beautifully done and honestly is one of the ones I liked the most, it immerses you in the atmosphere of the movie.
Visualmente, la película es una maravilla, como la mayoría de producciones del estudio, me encanta como le ponen mucho cariño a sus películas y eso se nota en la calidad de estas. Cuando ves esta película realmente no sientes que haya pasado el tiempo con respecto a una película del estudio, puedes ver la mas reciente como "El Niño y la Garza" y esta y puedes pensar que salieron en el mismo año, no quiero decir que eso sea algo malo, al contrario, es hermoso ver que el estudio se ha mantenido fiel a su estilo característico y eso es admirable. El soundtrack también esta hermosamente hecho y sinceramente es de los que mas me han gustado, te sumerge en el ambiente de la película.
I really thought that this movie was only about Princess Mononoke, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that it wasn't and that each character had its moment and its point of view well defined. Yo de verdad, veo esta película y me sorprende en gran manera la increíble calidad y estilo de animación que tiene los Studios Ghibli. En su época ver un largometraje animado con esta calidad es como viajar en el futuro, Miyasaki literalmente fue uno de los primeros en implementar un estilo de animación tan sublimemente detallado e increíblemente bien hecho.

Esta pelicula es increible, de las mejores que he visto! Lo que más me gusta de "La Princesa Mononoke" es esa narrativa tan bien balanceada donde no hay héroes ni villanos, sino personajes complejos con motivaciones y deseos entendibles. La relación entre Ashitaka y San es sin duda el corazón emocional de la historia, llena de tensión pero también de entendimiento mutuo. Definitivamente esta es una de esas películas que merecen ser vistas y apreciadas.
