A mitad de esta semana recibí un mensaje de una de mis amigas, no es extraño recibir mensajes de ella ya que hablamos constantemente, sin embargo en esta ocasión el motivo de su mensaje era muy diferente a lo habitual. En este momento ella se encuentra realizando un postgrado de mercado en una de las universidades más conocidas acá en Venezuela. Para su proyecto final deben diseñar un producto, crear un plan de mercadeo, publicidad y sacarlo al mercadeo.
Mi amiga y sus compañeras decidieron sacar un helado para niños, ella me pidió que le realizara el arte que irá impresa en los empaques de su producto un helado hecho a base de alfajor de origen peruano. Para ello mi amiga me pidió que realizara un personaje llamado Alfajito. La única instrucción que mi amiga me dio es que debía ser un Alfajor o inspirarse en uno, tierno y alegre porque aunque el productosera gonsumido tambiénpor adultos pero su cliente principal son niños.🫠
In the middle of this week I received a message from one of my friends, it is not strange to receive messages from her since we talk constantly, however this time the reason for her message was very different from usual. At the moment she is doing a postgraduate degree in marketing in one of the most well known universities here in Venezuela. For their final project they have to design a product, create a marketing plan, advertise and market it.
My friend and her classmates decided to make an ice cream for children, she asked me to create the artwork that will be printed on the packaging of her product, an ice cream made from Peruvian alfajor. My friend asked me to create a character called Alfajito. The only instruction my friend gave me was that it should be an Alfajor or be inspired by one, tender and cheerful because although the product was also consumed by adults but its main customer are children.
Crear este personaje no me era tarea sencilla para mi de hecho me sacó por completo de mis zona de confort, ya que como me dijo un amigo recientemente: tu arte( mi trabajo) no es apto para niños de hecho yo digo que es para un publico +16 🫨 esas palabras resonaron mucho en mi cabeza ya que aunque no se escucho bonito, en el fondo se que es completamente cierto, por eso cuando mi amiga me hizo está propuesta me quede fría, ¿como se suponía que realizaría una pintura para niños?
He allí el gran reto, pero eso no me iba a deterner, para apoyarme decidí buscar información, vi algunos tutoriales y finalmente me decidí a crear un personaje estilo bichi otaku algo que nunca había realizado. 😮💨
Creating this character was not an easy task for me in fact it took me completely out of my comfort zone, as a friend told me recently: your art (my work) is not suitable for children in fact I say it is for an audience +16 🫨 those words resonated a lot in my head because although it did not sound nice, deep down I know it is completely true, so when my friend made me this proposal I was cold, how was I supposed to make a painting for children?
That was the big challenge, but that was not going to stop me, to support me I decided to look for information, I saw some tutorials and finally I decided to create a bichi otaku style character, something I had never done before. 😮💨
Empecé por buscar como crear un boceto estilo bichi y ya con boceto en mano empecé a crear a mi personaje un rey alfajor o Alfajito. Trabaje en un lienzo muy pequeño, con un formato no mayor a 1200 megapíxel, tomando en consideración que es una miniatura, trate de trabajar los detalles lo mejor que pude.
Con boceto en mano empecé a pintar, debo decir que resultó muy divertido pintar a un personaje infantil. Les comparto el proceso.
I started by looking for how to create a bichi style sketch and with sketch in hand I started to create my character a king alfajor or Alfajito. I worked on a very small canvas, with a format no larger than 1200 megapixel, taking into consideration that it is a miniature, I tried to work the details as best as I could.
With sketch in hand I started to paint, I must say that it was a lot of fun to paint a child character. I share with you the process.
A medida que pintaba me derretía de ternura mientras mi personaje iba cobrando vida.🤩 Ya con mi arte listo mi trabajo está realizado, Cumpli con el reto. A este trabajo aun le falta la tipografía que se le agregara el día de mañana … mí amiga y su grupo de proyecto quedaron felices y satisfechas con el resultado.Yo por mi parte ame el resultado y lo divertido que fue pintar en éste estilo con ganas de volver a trabajar el estilo bichi otaku. As I painted I melted with tenderness as my character came to life 🤩 With my art ready my work is done, I met the challenge. This work still lacks the typography that will be added tomorrow ... my friend and her project group were happy and satisfied with the result, I for my part loved the result and how much fun it was to paint in this style and I'm looking forward to work again in the bichi otaku style.
