Hello, everyone!!!
I hope you are well or are trying to be well. Today, we are travelling with you from Edirne to Çanakkale, a city where one of the biggest wars of the Republic of Turkiye was fought, a city that I carry proudly in my heart as a Turk. We will also be there for a while.
For today, I would like to take you to the Çanakkale Field Hospital Museum. But there is another point that welcomes us before the museum entrance, and I will talk about it. But apart from that, this museum impressed me a lot. I can say that they are very successful in animation and wax sculptures, but before going into such details, let's see what this museum has.
Alçıtepe 1915 Battlements Reenactment Area
This area is a region where we can see first-hand how the blood we shed for this republic in 1915, regardless of race, tried to protect themselves. Yes, I am talking about the battlements where we can STILL smell the odour of the blood of our martyrs.

There are also re-enactments inside the visors, combined with the Field Hospital. I have to say it's heartbreaking because even if they can't make the wax sculptures realistic, the smell and sound effects allow them to give you the emotions they want. That's what happened to me. I had a hard time holding back my tears, along with my friends, who were crying as we visited the whole museum.
Entering the Battlement
After we took a group photo, we went back to the battlements through a narrow place so that they could give us the effect of entering the battlements, as far as I understood. Even knowing that these battlements were carved by our ancestors put such a burden on my shoulders that I had difficulty moving forward, even at the entrance.

It made me even more nervous to know that the different soil odour that intensified as I moved towards the battlements was the blood spilled in time. As someone who has studied the history of this war in detail, I think it would be appropriate to say that my blood boiled.
Of course, since the battlements were closed over time, some of them were re-excavated within the museum, and re-enactments were made with wax sculptures so that we could better understand the time. In this walk, they re-enacted the sounds of bombs and the screams of the soldiers, full of war and pain. The museum literally "attacks" all 5 senses.
Especially when you get to the position of the photo on the right, as you can imagine, there are screams along with the sounds of bombs. To tell you the truth, I tried to pass the battlements quickly because my heart was not strong enough.
Çanakkale Field Hospital Museum
Opened in 2021, this museum was unfortunately not present on my previous Çanakkale trips. I must say that I always enjoy discovering something new in Çanakkale, which I have visited more times than I can count until now.
The museum tells the conditions under which the great Gallipoli War was won and the hospitals, one of the behind-the-scenes. As soon as you enter, you are impressed by the materials in the garden, which was the same for me.
Museum Entrance
In order to enter the museum, you have to climb a bit uphill after passing the Martyrdom. But I think this helps you feel the "aura" of this war better. I would like to show you this with a little video.
I hope you were able to hear it because I want you to see what kind of place I was visiting at that moment and with what emotions. I must also say that it is a priceless example. They were able to show the scarcity of materials, food, and medicine in a wonderful way.
While the museum warned us at the entrance against the war conditions, we had a complete tour of the garden. Next are the sculptures depicting severe patients, medicine making, and surgeries in the hospital building.
Inside Museum
Physically, there was no heavy air inside the museum like outside. Maybe it was the air conditioners. But it is certain that more heavy work was done inside.
There are wax sculptures in the museum showing many things, such as drug making, dental treatment, and surgery. There was even a piece of parchment showing what they knew about teeth without x-rays or any auxiliary tools close to today's technology.
That big snake we saw—I think it's rotten. If anyone knows what it is or understands what it is, I would be very happy if you could tell me, because that's all I understand from here.
Can you imagine how many lives were saved by these doctors, who we know treated patients day and night without stopping, regardless of whether they were wounded men or sick children?
Even Ataturk's words "Entrust me to the care of Turkish doctors." How much it is in line with his words. This glorious war was won not only by those who fought in the battlements but also by those who healed the wounds behind the battlements, and we should not forget this and act accordingly.
My Thoughts
As I think it can be understood from the whole writing, I am a Turkish nationalist. The blood of my ancestors was spilt on this land and I do not forget this and I will not let it be forgotten. Especially when I came to the place where this blood is smelling, my feelings were stirred.
The museum is definitely a museum that can make you feel these feelings even if you are not a nationalist. And with the guide and his narration, you will be in a position to give him a piece of your mind when someone who threatens these lands comes in front of you. Even while writing this post, I remembered what emotions I experienced there, how I felt, my eyes filled with tears, I got angry as I thought about some things. I think my Turkish friends will understand me better.
Anyway.
This museum is definitely not a museum to be visited for entertainment. I think it would be more suitable for people who are curious about pure history and their ancestors, because otherwise the fine line between the search for "entertainment" and disrespect can be crossed.

Umarım iyisinizdir ya da iyi olmaya çalışıyorsunuzdur. Bugün sizinle Edirne'den de çıkıp Türkiye Cumhuriyeti'nin en büyük savaşlarından birinin verildiği, bir Türk olarak kalbimde gururla taşıdığım bir şehre, yani Çanakkale'ye gidiyoruz. Ayrıca bir süre de orada olacağız.
Bugün için sizi Çanakkale Sahra Hastanesi Müzesi'ne götürmek istiyorum. Ama müze girişinden önce bizi karşılayan bir nokta daha var ve ondan bahsedecekim. Fakat bunun dışında bu müze beni oldukça etkiledi. Canlandırma ve balmumu heykeller konusunda oldukça başarılı olduklarını söyleyebilirim fakat bu tarz detaylara girmeden önce hadi neler varmış bu müzede bir görelim.
Alçıtepe 1915 Siper Canlandırma Alanı
Bu alan 1915 yılında, ırk ayırt etmeksizin, bu cumhuriyet adına döktüğümüz kanların kendilerini nasıl korumaya çalıştıklarını birebir görebildiğimiz bir bölge. Evet, siperlerden bahsediyorum. Şehitlerimizin kanlarının kokusunu HÂLÂ buram buram alabildiğimiz siperliklerden bahsediyorum.
Siperliklerin içerisinde Sahra Hastanesi ile birleştirilmiş canladırmalar da bulunuyor. Yürek yakıcı olduğunu söylemeliyim çünkü balmumu heykellerini gerçekçi yapamasalar dahi, o koku ve ses efektleri size istedikleri duyguları vermelerini sağlıyor. Bana olan da buydu. Bütün müzeyi gezerken ağlayan arkadaşlarımla birlikte ben de gözyaşlarımı tutmakta oldukça zorlandım.
Siperliğe Giriş
Grupça fotoğraf çektirmemizin ardından anladığım kadarıyla bize sipere giriş efektini verebilmeleri için dar bir yerden geçip tekrar siperliğe çıktık. Bu siperlerin bizim atalarımız tarafından kazınmış olduğunu bilmek bile o kadar yük bindirdi ki omuzlarıma ilerlemekte zorlandım daha girişte.
Siperlik
Siperliğe ilerledikçe yoğunlaşan değişik toprak kokusunun zamanında dökülen kanlar olduğunu bilmek beni daha bir gerdi. Bu savaşın tarihini detaylı olarak çalışmış biri olarak kanım kaynadı desem yerinde olacaktır sanırım.
Elbette siperlikler zamanla kapandıkları için müze dahilinde bazıları yeniden kazılmış ve balmumu heykeller ile birlikte zamanı daha iyi anlayabilmemiz için canlandırmalar yapılmış. Bu yürüyüşte ise bomba sesleri ile birlikte askerlerin savaş ve acı dolu çığlıklarını canlandırmışlar. Müze tam anlamıyla 5 duyu organınıza da "saldırıyor".
Özellikle de sağdaki fotoğrafın konumuna geldiğinizde bomba sesleri ile birlikte çığlıklar yükseliyor tahmin edebileceğiniz gibi. Ne yalan söyleyeyim, yüreğim kaldırmadığından dolayı hızlı bir şekilde geçmeye çalıştım siperlikleri.
Çanakkale Sahra Hastanesi Müzesi
2021 yılında açılmış olan bu müze ne yazık ki benim daha önceki Çanakkale gezilerimde yoktu. Şu zamana kadar sayamayacağım kadar çok gittiğim Çanakkale'de her zaman yeni bir şeyler keşfetmemin keyfini çıkardığımı söylemeliyim.
Müze büyük Çanakkale Savaşı'nın hangi şartlar altında kazanıldığını, perde arkalarından biri olan hastaneleri anlatıyor. Daha girer girmez bahçedeki materyaller ile etkileniyor insan ki bana da aynısı oldu.
Müzeye Giriş
Müzeye girmek için Şehitlik'i geçtikten sonra biraz yokuş çıkmak gerekiyor. Ama bu bence bu savaşın etrafa yaydığı "aura"yı daha iyi hissetmenize yardımcı oluyor. Size bunu minik bir video ile görtermek isterim.
Duyabilmişsinizdir umarım çünkü o anda benim nasıl bir yerde hangi duygularla gezi yaptığımı görmenizi istiyorum. Paha biçilemez bir örnek olduğunu da söylemeliyim. Malzeme, gıda ve ilaç kıtlığını da harika bir şekilde gösterebilmişler.
Müzenin bizi savaş şartlarına karşı girişte uyarırken bahçeyi tamamen turlamış olduk. Sıra da hastane binası içerisinde bulunan ağır hastalar, ilaç yapımı ve ameliyatları canlandıran heykeller bulunuyor.
Müze İçi
Müzenin içerisinde dışarıdaki gibi ağır bir hava yoktu fiziksel olarak. Belki de klimaların işidir. Fakat içeride daha çok ağır işlerin yapıldığı kesin.
İlaç yapımı, diş tedavisi ve ameliyat gibi bir çok şeyi gösteren balmumu heykeli bulunuyor müze içerisinde. Hatta ve hatta dönemin röntgen veya günümüz teknolojisine yakın herhangi bir yardımcı alet olmadan diş hakkında neler bildiklerini gösteren bir parşomen parçası dahi vardı.
Gördüğümüz kocaman yılan bence bir çürük. Ne olduğunu anlayan ya da bilen varsa bana da söylerse çok mutlu olurum çünkü buradan tek anladığım bu.
Savaşta yaralanmış erkek veya hasta çocuk demeden gece gündüz, hiç durmadan hastaları tedavi ettiklerini bildiğimiz bu doktorlar ne kadar can kurtarmışlardır düşünebiliyor musunuz?
Atamızın bile "Beni Türk hekimlerine emanet ediniz." sözü ile ne kadar da bağdaşıyor. Siperde savaşanlar kadar siper arkadasında yaraları saranlarla da kazanıldı bu şanlı savaş, unutmamak ve buna göre davranmak gerek.
Benim Düşüncelerim
Bütün yazıdan da anlaşaılabileceğini düşündüğüm gibi ben bir Türk milliyetçisiyim. Benim atalarımın kanı bu topraklara dökülmüştür ve bunu da unutmam, unutturmam. Hele de buram buram bu kanın koktuğu yere gelince duygularım depreşti.
Müze kesinlikle milliyetçi olmasanız bile size bu duyguları hissettirebilecek bir müze. Bir de rehber ve anlatımı ile birlikte önünüze bu toprakları tehtid eden birileri geldiğinde ağzının payını verecek kıvama gelirsiniz. Bu yazıyı yazarken bile orada hangi duyguları yaşadığımı, nasıl hissettiğimi hatırladım, gözlerim doldu, bazı şeyleri düşündükçe öfkelendim. Türk dostlarım beni daha iyi anlarlar diye düşünüyorum.
Neyse.
Bu müze kesinlikle eğlence için gidilecek bir müze değil. Saf tarih ve atalarının merakını taşıyan insanlara daha uygun olacağını düşünüyorum çünkü diğer türlü "eğlence" arayışı ile saygısızlık arasındaki ince çizgi geçilebilir.
