Chihuly Garden and Glass Museum

When visiting Seattle last fall we were faced with a choice of how to spend our day. I've heard good things about the zoo, the aquarium and the science centre but those can be found in many large cities. The are markets, a tower you can go up and museums like any other city, but some museums are unique. The Chihuly Garden and Glass Museum is one of them so we decided to make it our must see thing in Seattle.

If you go after 6pm the ticket is considerably cheaper, since most of the museum is indoors, who cares. Best avoid the crowds and save a few bucks, this place is over $30 per person to visit and unless you're really captivated you can be in and out in under an hour.

Some of the glass sculptures photograph brilliantly, others do not. We tried our best to capture these but some are just best viewed in person. Such glass work is unique and Chihuly was a master of his craft.

It's interesting that Chihuly decided to make a museum instead of selling his art. Most of these are too large to go in someone's home, they would take up an entire room, or more.

The boats were my favourite, I also liked the white glass spikey things in picture two. As you can see, I was not an art major.

One could read about the art, but you could also buy a book or go online. We like to look at things, snap a photo if they're neat and move on.

The Glass house with the Seattle Space Needle is Chihuly's masterpiece. It was still light outside but it must be even more brilliant if the sun is shining at the right angle.

Thos mass of worms or glass tree is remarkable. I'm surprised there's no damage to any of the glass. Maybe they're just on top of it.

Now we are in the garden, the plants weren't impressive but the glass plants and trees are unique.

I'm not even sure what these are but one can see that they put effort into the details.

This rat got into the museum free of charge. Not a bad place to live, it's a lot nicer than most gardens.

Here is Chihuly, you could watch a movie all about him but again, it's probably available online. I never heard about him before coming to this museum and wonder if his unique perspective has to do with having one eye, or if he has one eye from a freak glassworking incident.

If you're ever in Seattle for the weekend and want something to do for an hour, this is a decent option. Thank you for reading and if you do visit this museum remember folks, No Firearms Allowed!

With a camera :D

Lolololzzzzz...100% lolololol

The glass museum looks super so many modern and colourful sculptures, by the way looks a bit expanded for one hour of visit .

You could spend a few hours in there or as little as fifteen minutes. Depends on one's mood. We only had one full day in Seattle.

Unbelievable. Truly wondrous forms that the artist was able to create with glass! It beggars belief, a master artisan. Thank you for sharing!

Welcome. It's definitely impressive, I'd have issues making a glass bead 😄

One must go to visit such special places. Seeing such special and natural things increases our knowledge and gives a lot of peace to the mind.

Wow, interesting place and great works
Thanks 💞
