Xunantunich. Belize.

in Pinmapple3 months ago

80 miles west of Belize City is the site of Xunantunich, translated as "Maiden of the Rock, or the Woman of Stone" and, like many names of Mayan sites, is a relatively modern name; the ancient and real name being lost in the mysts of time.

According to legend, back in the 1890's a man from a nearby village was out hunting. As he passed El Castillo, he was awestruck by a beautiful woman dressed completely in white, with fire-red glowing eyes.

El Castillo

She ascends the stone stairs, and disappears into a stone wall. Others too later claimed to have seen her, but no one could ever identify who or what she was.
TEQUILA!

The pyramid, "El Castillo", is the second tallest structure in Belize standing at some 140 feet tall.

Views are great once conquering the steps/scramble to the top, now to get back down next problem....

Spider monkey very cute loud animals, many used in labs or bush meat. Most poverty stricken regions will turn to this source for food especially men with guns in the jungle.
