This is one of the most beautiful routes I have traveled in my life. A mountain road with a view of the mountains and the sea, olive orchards, roadside towns. I took this road trip when I was going to see a wonderful beach with pink sand - Elafonisi. I could take the mountainous inland route, or this, partly sea view route. The choice was obvious to me. I chose the sea view outside my window.
To jedna z najpiękniejszych tras, jakimi jechałam w moim życiu. Górska droga z widokiem na góry i morze, oliwkowe sady, przydrożne miasteczka. Wybrałam się w podróż tą drogą, gdy jechałam zobaczyć cudowną plażę z różowym piaskiem - Elafonisi. Mogłam jechać górzystą trasą biegnącą w głębi lądu, albo tą, częściowo z widokiem na morze. Wybór był dla mnie oczywisty. Wybrałam widok morza za oknem.
The journey started in the vicinity of the town of Rapaniana, then I passed the towns of Kisamos, Platanos and Sfinari.
Podróż rozpoczęła się w okolicach miasteczka Rapaniana, następnie mijałam miejscowości Kisamos, Platanos i Sfinari.
At times I felt like I was in a very wild and remote place, even - on Mars. The nature here is amazing. When I looked out the window, every now and then I had a feeling of delight - a big wow! And the desire to capture this beautiful piece of reality with a photo.
Momentami czułam się jakbym była w bardzo dzikim i odległym miejscu, nawet - na Marsie. Tutejsza przyroda jest niesamowita. Gdy wyglądałam przez okno co chwila miałam uczucie zachwytu - wielkiego wow! I chęć uwiecznienia tego pięknego kawałka rzeczywistości za pomocą zdjęcia.

I didn't want to record through the glass, so I opened the window, so you can hear the wind very loudly. The road was full of sharp turns, typical serpentine. In addition, every now and then steep slopes that turned up my adrenaline while driving.

Nie chciałam nagrywać przez szybę, otworzyłam okno, więc słychać mocno odgłosy wiatru. Droga była pełna ostrych zakrętów, typowa serpentyna. Do tego co chwila strome zbocza, które podkręcały mi adrenalinę podczas jazdy.
My friend, who was recently on holiday in Crete, with her husband and children, has an unpleasant memory related to this road. As she was driving, like me, towards Elafonisi, suddenly on this narrow mountain road she saw a driver who was driving in front of her, on a head-on collision. He overtook several cars at once and failed to return to his lane. Fortunately, everything ended well, they did not collide, but this situation shows that it is worth being very careful when driving there.
Moja koleżanka, która niedawno była na wakacjach na Krecie, z mężem i z dziećmi ma niemiłe wspomnienie związane z tą drogą. Gdy jechała, podobnie jak ja, w stronę Elafonisi nagle na tej wąskiej, górskiej drodze zobaczyła kierowcę, który jechał przed nią, na zderzenie czołowe. Wyprzedzał kilka samochodów naraz i nie udało mu się wrócić na własny pas. Na szczęście wszystko dobrze się skończyło, nie zderzyli się, ale ta sytuacja pokazuje, że warto być bardzo ostrożnym, gdy się tam jeździ.
In addition to great views, we can meet goats along the road. I am always impressed with how well they do on slopes, even those that are almost vertical.
Oprócz świetnych widoczków, przy drodze możemy spotkać kozy. Zawsze jestem pod wrażeniem jak dobrze sobie radzą na zboczach, nawet tych niemal pionowych.
When traveling this route, it's a good idea to fill up your tank with petrol and even stock up in the trunk, as there are very few gas stations along the way.
Podczas podróży tą trasą warto napełnić bak benzyną do pełna, a nawet zrobić jakiś zapas w bagażniku, bo po drodze jest bardzo mało stacji benzynowych.
Mesmerizing olive groves. There were plenty of them there.
Hipnotyzujące gaje oliwkowe. Było ich tam mnóstwo.
