This weekend I went to Universal Hollywood Studios with my family. We had a few things to do in Los Angeles, and we took this chance to take the kids to check out this park. The main attraction of the park currently is the recently opened Super Nintendo World. This attraction was built in the lower lot of the park. Universal Hollywood is divided in upper lot and lower lot, the lower lot is down below a big hill, and is conected to the upper lot with a some big escalators. The lower lot has Jurassic Park, Transformers, Revenge of the Mummy, and now Super Nintendo World. Here in the first pictures below you can see Super Nintendo World from above, this is the view from the upper lot.

A principal atração do parque atualmente é o recém-inaugurado Super Nintendo World. O lote inferior tem o Jurassic Park, Transformers, Revenge of the Mummy e agora o Super Nintendo World.

When we got to the entrance of Super Nintendo World, there was a line to take pictures in pipes just like the ones in the game, and to get into this world, you have to walk thru one of these pipes. In the other end of the pipe is Princess Peach Castle. When you walk outside the castle you literally feel like you are inside the video game.

The main ride of this part of the park is Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge. In this ride you be in a kart with 4 other people, will use 3D glasses attached to a Mario hat, and you will use a steering wheel in front of you to help ride the kart and shoot other players with turtles. You need to collect >100 coins to get the trophy.
Inside this world there is also a restaurant, that I will talk about next, and a souvenier shop. But the most interesting thing in my opinion was the mini games. This made it feel even more like being inside a video game. The only catch is that you have to buy a bracelet called Power Up Band for U$40, this bracelet is one of those Amiibo devices used to unlock certain characters in game that you can also use with your Nintendo video games. In the park, you use the bracelet to collect coins all over the place, just by touching it to those "?" squares. There are also some hidden places where you touch it to get a stamp (collectible). And you have 5 games you can play, there are 4 key challenges and a final stage at Bowser's Castle. You had to collect at least 3 keys, by winning the challenges, to have access to Bowser's Castle. The games were pretty simple and fun, made in a way that people of any age can play. The final stage at the castle was a game where your shadow is projected in a wall of a video game and you can interact by moving your arms and body to hit items at Baby Bowser.

A principal atração dessa parte do parque é o Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge.

Another highlight of this area is the Toadstool Café, a restaurant with Mario theme plates. This restaurant needs a reservation, as it is always too crowded. They open the waitlist at 8am, and you can sign in online. Usually the restaurant is fully booked for the entire day before noon. Once you get in, the decoration is amazing, like everything else in Nintendo World, the windows are LED screens and the side ones show the Toads outside, the back window shows the Toads working on the restaurant kitchen. Every once in a while Bowser's ship arrives at the Toads land and the sky goes dark, the lights of the restaurant goes down and changes colors, and all Toads hide. There is a line once you get in and you order the food before you get seated. We ordered the Toadstool Cheesy Garlic Knots, a Piranha Plant Caprese, a Mario Burger, a Mario Mini Burger Adventure Set, a Chef Toad Short Rib Special, and a Princess Peach Cupcake. I took pictures of all plates except for the short rib, as my son started eating right away and didn't wait for me to get one. Check it out!

We did check out some other attractions at Universal Studios before we got to Nintendo World, like Harry Potter, Jurassic Park, Minions, we had a Duff beer at Moe's bar in Springfield (Simpsons), but we spent most of the day at the Super Nintendo World area. It was a super fun day, and we left when it was getting dark, the view to the lower lot at sunset was amazing. My kids loved it, and my youngest was so tired that he passed out in the car, it was hard to get him up for dinner.

What a beautiful experience! Everything looks so spectacular, even the Mario themed burgers, I loved it all, thanks for sharing here, I hope you had a great time! 🤗

There’s also Super Nintendo World over there! I haven’t been to one here, and looks like it’s the same concept here with the bracelet. I never knew what the bracelet was for, now I know. It seems so fun! And the restaurant is not just an ordinary restaurant, it’s also an attraction of its kind with the toads hiding. 😄

It is super fun, you should go!!. It's interesting how these amusement parks reinvent themselves, the bracelet interacting with many parts of that area really makes you feel like you are inside the game.

Yeah the bracelet was the most interesting. Feels like it’s a game that you have to complete. There’s a lot of crowd here, and I heard over here it’s like first come first serve, limited access to the first XX people.

We went in a day that the park was not so crowded, but Nintendo World was crowded as you can see in the pictures. I imagine that they do the same here, where they limit the access on crowded days. I saw a lot of fences and park employees at the entrance controlling people getting in. There is only one way in and one way out, and letting too many people in there could be dangerous. I'm sure they would stop letting people in at some point.
