Hello everyone and welcome to my blog :-)

We left Chaves without a destination and went to visit another nearby village. Along the way we found a concert by a Portuguese popular music band that attracted the locals.

PT

My father was from a small village called Espadanedo (Cinfães do Douro) and we went there several times, as my grandmother, despite living with my uncles, kept her little house. At one of the village's popular festivals, I told my mother that I liked a song so much, that they ended up buying the cassette (yes, I'm from the time of cassettes and vinyl) and it was non-stop on the radio. But this was just an aside, because I understand how happy it is when something different happens in these small towns. Now following our journey we saw a sign that said Loivos and without fear we went.

PT

Land of musicians, now suffering from depopulation. Many of the houses we can see have been rebuilt, as has the church, but many others remain abandoned.

PT

The alleys are super narrow so I found myself gasping for air several times thinking that we were going to get stuck in certain alleys. There wasn't even space to reverse gear and so we stopped the car and walked. We found a place reserved for the parish priest and looked for the church as it couldn't be far away. After going up and down a street we came across it.

PT

Beautiful, super well-kept, with stained glass windows and a large terrace all around. It's no wonder that Mr. Padre's parking lot was down here, as the access is at the top of a narrow street without much space for anything else. From entering the village until we left we only saw elderly people. As I told you, depopulation is notorious in these areas, to my great regret. We have spectacular villages that are not far from big cities and that provide a higher quality of life. But the fact that there is nothing there (I believe we saw a fruit shop and a cafe) makes people stay away.

PT

When we were leaving we found two kids (possibly 9/10 years old) playing ball, and they smiled and waved at us very friendly.
I don't remember seeing any school and I believe that these little ones must have to travel a few kilometers to go to class.
Still, they have the privilege of being able to play in the street without being worried. I don't think there are many strangers passing through here (at least at this time of year).

I would really like our daughter to be able to play in the street, like we did 30 years ago. These are the moments from our childhood that we will not forget.

PT

In Viana do Castelo

To Porto that I want so much.

@onyfest Beautiful town, I love its cobbled streets and houses, it looks like a city stopped in time.

Hello @lanoican. The village stopped a little bit in time, and that is the reason that maybe kept his beauty. Thanks for stopping by :-)

the view of the village there looks very beautiful, I really like seeing each building which is neatly made and looks a little classic,

Thank you so much. Glad you like it 🙂

An article like for a specialized magazine!... (both for the photos and for the text!)... Great job! BRAVO!
