Exploring India: Sunny days at Agonda beach, Goa

in Pinmapple5 months ago

Hi dear Hive community,

Our time in Nepal was amazing and we really got enriched by new knowledge, connections made with people and many experiences like hitchhiking, staying with locals, wild camping, etc. On top of that we also met many Steffen's old friends with which we had amazing times!

When December started, the temperatures went lower and we decided to leave Nepal earlier than expected and go to our next destination - hot India. It was the best decision ever, as we both enjoy here a lot.

For our first place in India we picked the small state of Goa, on the west coast of India. Mostly it's known by rich night life, beautiful beaches and as an old hippie place in the 60's.

It's divided on north and south side, of which north is more known for good parties, many clubs and night bars and south by more calm and peacful environment. We felt more connection with the second so we decided to go to Agonda. Another factor contributing to that was friends from Norway which also stayed there.

Agonda is a very clean and calm area. There were many yoga places where you can learn how to improve your yoga skills or even classes to become yoga teacher. Bars were calm and offered always some relaxing, soft live music.

Throughout all the main streets you could find small shops offering clotheses, jewellery, handcrafted things, silk scarves and much more.

Even though December is already a high season here, there were not many visitors. That was confirmed also by the locals who were a bit upset about this situation as it's not good for their business.

Big inflation happening all over the world, long covid lockdowns restricting people from traveling in the past two years and unstable conditions in Europe, America and Arabic area are in our view contributing to less tourism and lack of travelers. The prices is Goa are not as cheap as few years ago, therefore many people go for more affordable places.

We stayed in Goa for 11 days and we enjoyed there very much. Our places was nice and we had even small place to cook, so we were happy to prepare food ourselves after a month and a half. We spent a lot of time on the beach and in the warm sea. In the mornings we went for a run on sandy coast, and do yoga and sports. We also rented a scooter with which we cruised around and explored the area and the following beaches - Palolem beach, Cola beach, Butterfly beach (charges for parking) and our favourite Kakolem beach. The last one is really amazing, empty and with chill atmosphere with a nice restaurant. There you can even rent a small bamboo hut where you can just be and relax.
