Evari island in the middle of Raku lake, Estonia

in Worldmappin2 years ago

Small walk over the ice weeks ago, when the snow was still here and also the colder temperatures. Now the snow has melted, it was real warm for a week, but now the cold is back again. Haven't posted for a while again. Atleast I want to post just things come up that distract from posting.

The Evari island is a super small island in the Männiku quarry area in Raku lake. The size is about 50x50 meters maybe.

Since there was a thick ice on the lake, it was easy to walk to the island.

Here we can also see from far away the cool sand hills in the quarry that is still active.

This is a place where some come to winter swim. During the time there saw a few people going into the cold water.

Fishermen on the ice again. Meeting them on every lake this winter.

A view from top of the island. The lake is so low compared to the island, but actually the island is the same level as other ground, it's just the lake that has been excavated out from the ground.

There were signs of grilling on top, probably interesting place to be when it's summer, then you have to either take a boat or swim there. Right now it was super cold and windy.

Like a scene from a movie - 2 fishermen having a competition who gets more fish.

Trees sensing the spring.

Layers of sand, history under us.

Estonian nature looks like the flag of Estonia in the winter.
