Small trip to Viivikonna and Sillamäe, Estonia

in Worldmappin2 years ago

With friends visited Eastern Estonia this year to explore some interesting places and buildings.

1.jpg

First cool place was small village Viivikonna, where only about 50 people still live.

2.jpg

But there are a lot of buildings that are abandoned and slowly falling apart.

A local cat running around.

The cat greeted us and walked for a bit with us.

Next stop vas Sillamäe, which is only 9km from Viivikonna.

9.jpg

That is a much bigger city. About 12 000 people live there.

10.jpg

Cultural center in the city center.

11.jpg

This is the most known street from that small town, it takes u to the seaside to a promenade.

12.jpg

The seaside seemed to be renovated quite recently and was really beautiful.

Like this looks better than a lot of seaside places in Tallinn.

16.jpg

It was a rainy evening - it looks super dark while it was only about 6pm.

There was also a good basketball court and a soccer field right next to the seaside.

The adventure will continue.

Oh why do I feel spooky, and it looks quite there. What good about is that the place is quiet than the busy place I am at present

Yes Viivikonna was pretty spooky, although there were a few people doing their evening walks, but otherwise it looks almost like a ghost town.

Pretty scary place, been there once 👀

I went there too a couple of years ago. People hyped that this place is abandoned and looked like Prypiat so I had high hopes. Well didn't look anything like Prypiat and the people living there dont exactly make it feel abandoned so unfortunately there was not much to see for me. Still, cool history.

Yes, too much hype, but still interesting place.
