केदारनाथ मन्दिर भारत के उत्तराखण्ड राज्य के रुद्रप्रयाग जिले में स्थित हिन्दुओं का प्रसिद्ध मंदिर है यह उत्तराखण्ड में हिमालय पर्वत की गोद में बसा हुआ एक प्रसिद्ध मंदिर है ।। केदारनाथ मन्दिर बारह ज्योतिर्लिंग में सम्मिलित होने के साथ यह चार धाम और पंच केदार में से भी एक है। यहाँ की प्रतिकूल जलवायु के कारण यह मन्दिर अप्रैल से नवंबर माह के मध्य ही दर्शन के लिए खुलता है उसके बाद यह मंदिर बंद हो जाता है क्योंकि यहां भारी मात्रा मै बर्फबारी होती हैं जिस से की यहां जाना संभव नहीं हो पाता हैं।।
केदरानाथ धाम का इतिहास ~
पत्थरों से बने कत्यूरी शैली से बने इस मन्दिर के बारे में कहा जाता है कि इसका निर्माण पाण्डव वंश के जनमेजय ने कराया था और यहाँ स्थित स्वयम्भू शिवलिंग अति प्राचीन है। आदि शंकराचार्य ने इस मन्दिर का जीर्णोद्धार करवाया।
इस ज्योतिर्लिंग की स्थापना का इतिहास संक्षेप में यह है कि हिमालय के केदार श्रृंग पर भगवान विष्णु के अवतार महातपस्वी नर और नारायण ऋषि तपस्या करते थे। ओर उनकी आराधना से ही प्रसन्न होकर भगवान शंकर प्रकट हुए और उनके प्रार्थना अनुसार ज्योतिर्लिंग के रूप में सदा वास होने का वरदान दिया।।
केदरनाथ धाम उत्तराखंड का सबसे विशाल शिव मंदिर है, जो की कटवां पत्थरों के विशाल शिलाखंडों को जोड़कर बनाया गया है यह शिलाखंड भूरे रंग के हैं ओर मंदिर लगभग 6 फुट ऊंचे चबूतरे पर बना है इसका गर्भगृह अपेक्षाकृत प्राचीन है जिसे 80वीं शताब्दी के लगभग का माना जाता है।
मंदिर के गर्भगृह में अर्धा के पास चारों कोनों पर चार सुदृढ़ पाषाण स्तंभ हैं जो की विशाल एवं भव्य है। उसकी छत चार विशाल पाषाण स्तंभों पर टिकी है। विशालकाय छत एक ही पत्थर की बनी है। गवाक्षों में आठ पुरुष प्रमाण मूर्तियां हैं, जो अत्यंत कलात्मक ओर खुबसुरत हैं केदारनाथ धाम 85 फुट ऊंचा, 187 फुट लंबा तथा 80 फुट चौड़ा है इसकी दीवारें 12 फुट मोटी हैं और बेहद मजबूत पत्थरों से बनाई गई है और मंदिर को 6 फुट ऊंचे चबूतरे पर खड़ा किया गया है। पत्थरों को एक-दूसरे में जोड़ने के लिए इंटरलॉकिंग तकनीक का इस्तेमाल किया गया है ।
मंदिर का निर्माण ओर इतिहास ~
पुराण मै और कथाओ के अनुसार हिमालय के केदार श्रृंग पर भगवान विष्णु के अवतार महातपस्वी नर और नारायण ऋषि तपस्या करते थे। ओर उनकी आराधना से प्रसन्न होकर भगवान शंकर प्रकट हुए और उनके प्रार्थना अनुसार ज्योतिर्लिंग के रूप में सदा वास करने का वर प्रदान उन्हे प्राप्त किया गया । यह स्थल केदारनाथ पर्वतराज हिमालय के केदार नामक श्रृंग पर अवस्थित है।
इस मंदिर को सर्व प्रथम पांडवों ने बनवाया था लेकिन वक्त की मार के चलते यह मंदिर लुप्त हो गया और बाद में 8वीं शताब्दी में आदिशंकराचार्य ने एक नए मंदिर का निर्माण कराया जो 400 वर्ष तक बर्फ में दबा रहा।
मंदिर के कपाट खुलने का समय ~
दीपावली महापर्व के दूसरे दिन शीत ऋतु में मंदिर के द्वार बंद कर दिए जाते हैं और यहां 6 माह तक दीपक जलता रहता है ।
पुरोहित सम्मान पट बंद कर भगवान के विग्रह एवं दंडी को 6 माह तक पहाड़ के नीचे ऊखीमठ में ले जाते हैं। 6 माह बाद मई माह में केदारनाथ के कपाट खुलते हैं तब उत्तराखंड की यात्रा आरंभ होती है।
6 माह मंदिर और उसके आसपास कोई नहीं रहता है, लेकिन आश्चर्य बात यह है की 6 माह तक दीपक भी जलता रहता और निरंतर पूजा भी होती रहती है। कपाट खुलने के बाद यह भी आश्चर्य का विषय है कि वैसी ही साफ-सफाई मिलती है जैसे छोड़कर गए थे।
