Hello to all my readers. Since the middle of last year, I have been publishing a huge report on my August trip to St. Petersburg and its surroundings. Today I continue the theme of Peterhof, Alexandria Park and the pavilions that are there. Today we will visit the Cottage Palace.
ONLINE INFORMATION: The cottage is the main building of the Alexandria Park. The palace building, like the new Farmer's Palace, is made in the Neo-Gothic style. Upon assuming the throne, Emperor Nicholas I commissioned the Scottish architect A. Menelas to build a "country house" in the spirit of English country villas not far from the ceremonial Peterhof. It was created for Alexandra Feodorovna, the tsar's beloved wife, who could not stand pompous ceremonial interiors, and became a personal, intimate space of the imperial family.
Alexandria Park is a unique place. I have already written that it is located almost directly next to the Petrodvorets complex, one of the sides adjacent to its Lower Park. But this place still has more homely comfort than the magnificent Petrodvorets.
The history of this place begins with the reign of Emperor Nicholas I. It was his family who spent happy holidays in small buildings built in Alexandria - a Cottage and a Farmhouse.
If you look at the map, the Cottage is located at some distance from the Farm Palace. Most likely, this was due to the desire to have long hiking and cycling trips for representatives of the royal family. However, history is for certain silent about the features of such a layout.
Anyway, Alexandria is a very well-maintained and well-equipped park. There are large areas with manicured lawns, and there are also many flower beds. In previous years, the emperor's wife loved white roses and these flowers grew in large quantities here.
If we talk about the Cottage itself, it looks somewhat like the construction of a Farm palace. It is understandable, because the same style is used in architecture. But the Cottage is still larger in size. Its facades, decorated with balconies, are more regular in shape.
Inside the palace building, the Neo-Gothic style is also present in all its beauty and grandeur. There are many shades of green and blue in the rooms. Even the fireplaces and doorways are decorated appropriately.
As the emperor's wife later recalled in her memoirs, she spent her best, happiest days in Alexandria. Nicholas I himself also agreed with her. Today, visitors can fully experience the atmosphere of this place, filled with authentic works of art from those years.

Привет всем моим читателям. Начиная с середины прошлого года я публикую огромный отчёт о своей августовской поездке по Петербургу и его окрестностям. Сегодня я продолжаю тему Петергофа, Парка Александрия и тех павильонов, которые там имеются. Сегодня мы побываем во Дворце-коттедже.
СПРАВКА ИЗ СЕТИ: Коттедж – главная постройка парка "Александрия". Здание дворца - как и новый Фермерский дворец - выполнено в стиле неоготики. Вступив на престол, император Николай I поручил шотландскому архитектору А. Менеласу построить неподалеку от парадного Петергофа "сельский домик" в духе английских загородных вилл. Он создавался для Александры Федоровны, любимой жены царя, которая не выносила помпезных парадных интерьеров, и стал личным, интимным пространством императорской семьи.
Парк Александрия - уникальное место. Я уже писал о том, что он расположен практически вплотную к Петродворцовому комплекса, одной из сторон примыкая к его Нижнему парку. Но это место всё же обладает большим домашним уютом, чем пышный Петродворец.
История этого места начинается с эпохи правления императора Николая I. именно его семейство проводило счасливые дни отдыха в выстроенных в Александрии небольших постройках - Коттедже и Фермерском домике.
Если смотреть по карте, Коттедж расположен на некотором удалении от Фермерского дворца. Скорей всего это было связано с желанием иметь длительные пешие и велосипедные прогулки для представителей царского семейства. Впрочем история доподлинно умалчивает об особенностях такой планировки.
Как бы то ни было Александрия представляет собой очень ухоженный и обустроенный парк. Здесь большие территории с подстриженными газонами, а также имеется множество цветочных клумб. В прежние годы супруга императора любила белые розы и здесь эти цветы росли в больших количествах.
Если говорить о самом Коттедже, внешне он чем-то похож на постройку Фермерского дворца. Оно и понятно, ведь в архитектуре использован один и тот же стиль. Но Коттедж всё же крупнее по размерам. Его фасады, украшенные балконами, более правильной формы.
Внутри здания дворца стиль неоготики также присутствует во всей его красе и величии. В комнатах много зелёных и синих оттенков. Даже камины и дверные проёмы декорированы подобающим образом.
Как вспоминала позже супруга императора в своих мемуарах, в Александрии она провела свои лучшие, счастливые дни. Сам Николай I так же соглашался с ней. Сегодня посетители в полной мере могут ощутить атмосферу этого места, наполненного подлинными произведениями искусства тех лет.
