"Halo" (Season 2, Episode 3) by Craig Zisk Review: Attack on Reach

in Movies & TV Shows2 months ago (edited)

Greetings!

In episode 2 we finally get to see Cortana again but her appearance is different from season 1. In the previous episode, we got a glimpse of the real motives of Ackerson as he is going against the Master Chief which he (Ackerson) is trying to destroy.

Episode 3 is all about the manipulation of Ackerson while he is trying to use Kai to destroy the Silver Team and kill the Master Chief once and for all. Episode 3 finally saw a high-ranking official finally believe in him when he saw the entire Cobalt Team dead. Also, the episode offers a lot of stories that should never be missed.

Delusion

Episode 3 took a lot from episode 2 as this episode is still trying to paint the Master Chief as Delusional. Even the admiral who is directly in command of Silver Team thinks that the Master Chief is delusional. It is annoying because this episode and the previous episode did not show heavy reasons to paint the Master Chief as mentally ill. They must have shown it to the audience. But of course, this is the doing of Ackerson, he's got lots of influence inside the command chain and he was able to influence the minds of people around him. But in hindsight, this is happening in real life, people are quick to jump to conclusions just based on what they saw on their record (which of course easy to manipulate).

Kwan Ha and the family of Soren

Episode 3 surprised me because of the cooperation of the family of Soren and Kwan Ha. It was a little of a surprise to me but then I realized that Kwan Ha and Soren have a history of friendship. I think that friendship led Kwan Ha to help the family of Soren. Kwan Ha's killing of the former teammates of Soren is ingenious. She just kept making noise and the team members got to see it one by one and one by one they were killed by Kwan Ha until there was no one left.

The Fate of Cobalt Team

As Ackerson is actively doing manipulation this episode also reveals the fate of the whole Cobalt Team which Ackerson deployed to Visegrad for some reason. The Master Chief was very concerned about the Cobalt Team when he saw the status of the team on a bulletin board. After Admiral Keyes thought the Master Chief was delusional his stance is sure changed when he saw the entire Cobalt Team members dead. It was that moment when he said to Ackerson, "Go, fuck yourself".

I believe the Covenant is already here - Master Chief

I was surprised when Master Chief told Admiral Parangosky that the Covenant was already on Reach. By thinking of the previous episode I finally understand that the Master Chief is well aware of the meaning of the previous events, the great soldier he is, he is not only a killing machine (the demon which he is called by his Covenant peers), he is also brilliant is analyzing events. His suspicion only grows more when a team of Spartans goes missing. In the world of Halo, a team of Spartans that went missing only speaks for the great magnitude of danger that they encounter as a Spartan is very hard to kill.

You fight because you are a soldier

Admiral Parangosky's thinking of John as a mere soldier laments the truth about the current state of our real-life troops when she says "You fight because I told you to". It is sad to think that they only think of every soldier on the battlefield as that. This statement of Paragosky is surely coming from her pride because she is an admiral who commands a fleet. And all of the men and women under her are merely a soldier by her standards.

The torturing of Dr. Halsey

For some time I have been thinking as to why Ackerson is subjecting Dr. Halsey to some form of torture by sending a clone of his younger sister to Dr. Halsey only to die in front of her. But then it seems to time that Dr. Halsey is not affected by the theatrics of Ackerson which makes me think that Dr. Halsey is immune to mental breakdown. She is indeed one of the unwavering characters of the series.

Attack on Reach commenced

As the Master Chief said to Admiral Parangosky that the Covenant is already on Reach, at the end of the episode saw the commencing of the attack of Covenant by bombing the city where John, Riz, and Vannak are staying. While the attack is commencing I am anxious if the Master Chief is going to suit up to fight. I think it is because he was on leave as Admiral Keyes said previously when the Silver Team went to Visegrad without the proper clearance.

Conclusion

All in all this episode is by far one of my favorite as the Master Chief gained a believer in Admiral Keyes after he saw what happened to an entire team of Spartans that were killed by the Covenant. This episode also makes me think about what is going to happen to Kwan Ha and the family of Soren.

This episode gives a lot of information on what to expect in episode four as the Covenant commences its attack on Reach. I am expecting a showcase of Master Chief's skill in episode 4 and how his team is going to defend Reach. There have been lots of times that the Master Chief is not wearing his armor and I think episode 4 will give us some showcasing of his skills and fighting ability.

That is all for now guys, catch you up with the next one. Wishing you all safety, good health, and abundance.

I have seen very good comments about this series. I haven't watched it yet because it is long, but I am curious and it is a great game.

Yes, it is long, but it is worth it. You can binge-watch it or you can at your own pace. Thank you for dropping by.
