The Glory - Season 1 Episode 2 Review: Getting Darker

in Movies & TV Shows28 days ago

Introduction

In episode one it was established how miserable the life of the protagonist on the hands of her bullies (she suffers a lot of pain). Episode two continues what episode one established. Having all the characters (the protagonist and the antagonists) graduated and all become successful, now is the right time to begin what the protagonist has been planning for a long time.

The Film's Narrative

Episode two shows how the protagonist is doing to fulfill her plans. She is stalking her bullies' social media and keeping a record of the information she gathered. She even gathered information through the bins from the trash and then put together the shredded papers.

Below is a screenshot of some of the shredded papers that the protagonist is patiently putting together just to collect information on her bullies.

Thoughts

"Episode 2" was able to able to tickle my imagination simply because the plot is getting dark as a supporting character appears at the end of the episode and asks the protagonist if she can kill her husband in exchange for her not to turn the protagonist to the authorities.

I am not expecting this new development in the series. I thought I was just going to see the protagonist and her bullies but then the plot just got dark because someone is going to be killed. It is interesting if she (the protagonist) will do it.

Below is a screenshot of the scene of the protagonist and a new supporting character that appears at the end of this episode (episode 2).

"Episode 2" failed to properly show a detailed transition of the protagonist and the antagonist to where they are now. The episode just suddenly started to show all of the main characters that are now all successful. Although the scenes are unstable, the transition is quite fast but it is still easy to understand.

Although "Episode 2" lacked some happy scenes, it is understandable because the narrative is all about revenge which is rooted in school bullying. Judging by the scenes from episode one and episode two I think we will not be going to see happy moments because it was already established the mood of the series.

"Episode" is brilliant in portraying the sorrow and pain of the protagonist. Song Hye-kyo's brilliance in her acting is definitely very commendable. She is getting better at acting while she ages.

Episode two still shows elements of bullying between the antagonists which of course helps the episode in portraying the cruel nature of the antagonists. I thought I was not going to see bullying between the antagonists but I was wrong. Episode two establishes that the antagonists are far from finished with their bullying.

Conclusion

I don't expect that episode two will go on a darker path. Still, episode two did a great job of establishing the deep scar of bullying. Episode two showed how successful and influential the bullies have become, and with that being said, it made me curious how the protagonist is going to take her revenge.
