Hoy les quiero hablar de Close, una película de producción francesa estrenada en el año 2022. Luego de su estreno recibió muchas nominaciones para premios importantes, incluyendo el óscar cómo mejor película internacional, puedes verla en la plataforma de Netflix. Close es una película muy emotiva y que puede hacerte llorar, trata sobre la amistad, la pérdida y la aceptación.

Today I want to talk to you about Close, a French-produced film released in 2022. After its release, it received many nominations for important awards, including the Oscar for best international film. You can watch it on the Netflix platform. Close is a very emotional film that can make you cry, it is about friendship, loss and acceptance.

Léo y Remi son dos adolescentes que tienen una sólida amistad, ellos son inseparables, pasan la mayor parte de su tiempo disfrutando de su mutua compañía, incluso los padres de ambos se conocen y suelen reunirse para cenar todos juntos, la madre de Remi considera a Léo como a otro hijo. Remi es un chico muy sensible y tímido que toca el oboe, por su parte Léo es más extrovertido y hace amigos con facilidad.
Léo and Remi are two teenagers who have a solid friendship, they are inseparable, they spend most of their time enjoying each other's company, even their parents know each other and usually meet for dinner together, Remi's mother considers Léo like another son. Remi is a very sensitive and shy boy who plays the oboe, while Léo is more outgoing and makes friends easily.

Cuándo ambos chicos comienzan la secundaria la amistad entre ambos es motivo de rumores entre sus compañeros cuestionando la naturaleza de la relación, algunos insinúan que son novios. Estas insinuaciones comienzan a perturbar a Léo y poco a poco se distancia de Remi en el colegio para no ser objeto de burlas, Leo hace nuevos amigos y por sugerencia de uno de ellos se inscribe en el club de hockey.
When both boys start high school, the friendship between them is the cause of rumors among their classmates questioning the nature of the relationship, some insinuating that they are boyfriends. These insinuations begin to disturb Léo and little by little he distances himself from Remi at school so as not to be the object of ridicule. Leo makes new friends and at the suggestion of one of them he joins the hockey club.

La amistad entre Léo y Remi se fractura, Remi se siente traicionado y no comprende la aptitud de Léo hacia él, las cosas se salen de control y los amigos se pelean a golpes en el colegio, lo que desencadena luego una tragedia. Léo tendrá que aprender a soltar la culpa, pero su vida ya no será la misma.
The friendship between Léo and Remi fractures, Remi feels betrayed and does not understand Léo's aptitude for him, things get out of control and the friends get into fistfights at school, which then triggers a tragedy. Léo will have to learn to let go of guilt, but his life will no longer be the same.

La película me gustó ya que aborda temas importantes, la amistad entre Léo y Remi se presenta como pura e inocente, sin embargo las presiones y el qué dirán los demás comienza a afectar la amistad entre ambos y la percepción que tiene Léo sobre sí mismo. También se explora en la película la culpa y el duelo, así como el perdón y las relaciones familiares.
I liked the film because it addresses important themes, the friendship between Léo and Remi is presented as pure and innocent, however the pressures and what others will say begins to affect the friendship between the two and Léo's perception of himself. Guilt and grief, as well as forgiveness and family relationships, are also explored in the film.

Lo que no me gustó de la película es la falta de diálogo en las escenas importantes, me hubiera gustado que se expresaran muchas cosas con palabras, sin embargo, creo que esto se hizo a propósito para crear más intimidad en las escenas. Close es una película tierna, tiene mucha fuerza y sus protagonistas lo hicieron excelente, pero es lenta y a algunos espectadores puede aburrir, pero si decides verla dale una oportunidad y quédate hasta ver el final.
What I didn't like about the film is the lack of dialogue in important scenes, I would have liked many things to be expressed in words, however, I think this was done on purpose to create more intimacy in the scenes. Close is a tender film, it has a lot of strength and its protagonists did an excellent job, but it is slow and some viewers may find it boring, but if you decide to see it, give it a chance and stay until you see the end.
