sourceSo, this will be 100% unbiased. Two days ago I went to watch this film with my friends. We went to the theatre to watch this film and as soon the film started we noticed that the Tamil spoken in this film was different to what we learned, the film was in senthamizh, which is an older form of Tamil. You see senthamizh is not understandable to everyone in South India. I think even a minority of the people in TamilNadu will not be able to understand it. I never had problems understanding films in Tamil before because we had farming lands in Poopara and people there, spoke Tamil. But this film was not even understandable to me. I have watched most of the super hit films in Kollywood, and I had no issue with understanding any of those films, As a matter of fact, I enjoyed watching films in Tamil due to the extra punch in Tamil dialogues but that was not the case while I watched PS 1 film.
The biggest reason I hated watching this film was due to the bad script and direction. The visuals of this film were not able to connect with the storyline of the film. For a person who doesn't understand senthamizh, it will be like watching some random not connecting footage in the 2.5 hours of this film. Even those who know Tamil very well and haven't read the Ponniyin Selvan comics will have problems connecting the story.
That bad is the script and visuals. The VFX of this film was average nothing to brag about. I would say the VFX didn't have any consistency, Sometimes the VFX was good and sometimes it was poor. There were no rememberable scenes in this film. The entire film is full of crap.
The composition aspect of Film making was not followed in this film in some shots and they looked very beginner-level to me. This film had too long uninteresting dialogues and it made me very sleepy.

This film is not for everyone, it is just for those people who know about the history of the Chola dynasty and those who read the Ponniyin Selvan comics. For the rest of us, it will be waste of time watching this film.
