Sonic 2
Ok, on Monday I went to the movies after almost three years without going to one and you don't know how I regret not taking pictures of the experience because I really feel that words are not enough to describe what it was like to see this movie (it sounds exaggerated, yes, but as I said I haven't been to a movie theater for a long time so maybe that's why I paint it more amazing than it is). I had already enjoyed Sonic immensely, even though I had no expectations about it and so when Sonic 2 was announced I expected it to be at the same level or higher than the first movie, and it did. Gentlemen, it did it!
You would think that all these words are my fanaticism for Sonic videogames talking, but come on, I am also a severe Resident Evil fan and I hate each and every one of their live-action, so let's discard that opinion and go straight to the point.
The story of this second installment tells us how after banishing Dr. Eggman, Sonic has taken some liberties with what he can do with his powers and has decided to become the blue vigilante, which is not something that works out very well for him (and understandably so, he's a kid... or teenager, his age is questionable), however, when Dr. Eggman returns with his new companion, Knuckles, the echidna, looking for the master emerald, it will again be Sonic's duty to save the world from Eggman's madness.
Let's start with the important Knuckles and Tails, and how well they integrate into the story. I think the integration of these two characters was the best decision they could have made for this installment, both characters were the complement Sonic needed. However, I think the movie doesn't take its time to introduce them properly, the introduction of both happens very suddenly and without context, and it's later when they themselves have to talk about who they are and what they came to earth to do, it's not something I dislike, but I think the movie should have taken its time for it.
From the story in general it's well executed, Knuckles' presence and the resentment he feels towards Sonic is totally justified by the first few minutes of the first movie and Tails, we saw him come to earth in the end of the movie so there are no plot holes in that aspect. My only complaint is THE MASTER EMERALD. It has an explanation, of course it does, the movie makes it clear to you, but where did the chaos emeralds come from? Know the ball, because they never explain it (I want to believe it will be a topic to be addressed in the third movie).
But that's the least of my problems with this movie, my biggest problem is: Jim Carrey. With the first movie I thought he was the right guy to play Eggman and I still think so, but with this movie I felt him too overacted, it's true Eggman became even crazier after spending so much time on the mushroom planet, but I feel Jim Carrey took it to an unnecessary level. And my other problem is the almost zero attention that falls on Robotnik, I mean, it's fine that the spotlight fell on Knuckles (after all he takes the role of antagonist for much of the film) but remember that Eggman is the main enemy of Sonic, so it doesn't make much sense to me the little participation he has in the key moments of the film.
Now if we take out of the equation all these details (which for me are minuscule) Sonic 2 is a great movie, it does not deviate in anything nor has it lowered the quality in relation to the previous film. It's true that it's not a perfect movie (that thing doesn't exist, it's a myth) but that doesn't take away from the fact that it's very enjoyable and that it has an interesting and well-structured story, and it's also worth mentioning that it has a brutal animation.
I don't usually give ratings, but this time I will give this movie an 8.5/10. I highly recommend it; you will not regret it.

Ok, el lunes fui al cine después de casi tres años sin pisar uno y no saben cómo me arrepiento de no haber tomado fotos de la experiencia porque en serio siento que las palabras no alcanzan para describir lo que fue ver esta película (suena exagerado, sí, pero como dije llevo mucho tiempo sin pisar un cine ai que tal vez sea por eso que lo pinto más asombroso de lo que es). Yo ya había disfrutado inmensamente Sonic, pese a que no tenía expectativas sobre ella y por lo mismo cuando se anunció Sonic 2 esperaba que estuviera al mismo nivel o más alto que la primera película, y lo logro. Señores ¡lo logro!
Pensaría que todas estas palabras es mi fanatismo por los videojuegos de Sonic hablando, pero vamos, también soy severa fanática de Resident Evil y aborrezco todos y cada uno de sus live-action, así que descartemos esa opinion y vayamos directo al grano.
La historia de esta segunda entrega nos habla de cómo tras desterrar al doctor Eggman, Sonic se ha tomado algunas libertades con respecto a lo que puede hacer con sus poderes y ha decidido convertirse en el vigilante azul, lo cual no es algo que le salga muy bien (y es comprensible, es un niño... o adolescente, su edad es dudosa), sin embargo, cuando el doctor Eggman vuelva junto a su nuevo acompañante, Knuckles, el equidna, buscando la esmeralda maestra, nuevamente sera deber de Sonic salvar al mundo de la locura de Eggman.
Empecemos con lo importante Knuckles y Tails, y que tan bien se integran en la historia. Pienso que la integración de estos dos personajes fue la decisión más acertada que pudieron tomar para esta entrega, ambos personajes eran el complemento que Sonic necesitaba. Sin embargo, pienso que la película no se toma su tiempo para presentarlos correctamente, la presentación de ambos sucede muy de golpe y sin contexto, y es más adelante cuando ellos mismos tiene que hablar sobre quiénes son y que vinieron a hacer a la tierra, no es algo que me disguste, pero pienso que la película debió tomarse su tiempo para ello.
De la historia en general está bien ejecuta, la presencia de Knuckles y el resentimiento que siente hacia Sonic está totalmente justificado por los primeros minutos de la primera película y a Tails lo vimos llegar a la tierra en el final de la misma por lo que no hay huecos argumentales en ese aspecto. Mi unica queja es LA ESMERALDA MAESTRA. Tiene una explicación, claro que la tiene, la película se encarga de aclarártelo, pero ¿de dónde salieron los esmeraldas caos? Sepa la bola, porque nunca lo explican (quiero creer que sera un tema a tratar en la tercera película)
Pero ese es el menor de mis problemas con esta película, mi problema mayor es: Jim Carrey. Con la primera película pensé que él era el indicado para interpretar al Eggman y aun sigo pensando eso, pero con esta película lo sentí demasiado sobreactuado, es cierto Eggman se volvió aún más loco luego de pasar tanto tiempo en el planeta de los hongos, pero siento que Jim Carrey lo llevo a un nivel innecesario. Y mi otro problema es la casi nula atención que cae sobre Robotnik, digo, está bien que los reflectores cayeran sobre Knuckles (después de todo toma el papel de antagonista durante gran parte de la película) pero recordemos que Eggman es el enemigo principal de Sonic, por lo que no se me hace muy lógico la poca participación que tiene en los momentos clave de la película.
Ahora si sacamos de la ecuación todos estos detalles (que para mí son minúsculos) Sonic 2 es un peliculón, no desvaría en nada ni ha bajado la calidad en relación a la película anterior. Es cierto que no es una película perfecta (esa cosa no existe, es un mito) pero eso no quita sea muy disfrutable y que cuente con una historia interesante y bien estructurada, y también cabe resaltar que tiene una animación brutal.
Yo no suelo dar calificaciones, pero en esta ocasión le dare a esta película un 8.5/10. La recomiendo en exceso, no se van a arrepentir.
