Kanye West, Ye, Santa or whatever he goes by these days is no longer buying Parler. It's hardly a surprise, given West has been off the rails these last few months.
In an official statement from the parent company of Parler, Parlement Technologies:
Parlement Technologies has confirmed that the company has mutually agreed with Ye to terminate the intent of sale of Parler. This decision was made in the interest of both parties in mid-November. Parler will continue to pursue future opportunities for growth and the evolution of the platform for our vibrant community.
I wouldn't be surprised if Kanye said he would buy Parler but never had intentions of doing so. So, while the two have mutually agreed to terminate the deal, it sounds like the deal was never serious or going ahead in the first place. It's the equivalent of Binance saying they will buy FTX but deciding not to move beyond the letter of intent stage.
The funny thing about this situation is Parler has been sitting on this information for over half a month. Why didn't Parler announce the deal had died sooner? Perhaps they were using the celebrity clout from Kanye announcing his intent to buy to play off other prospective buyers? It's a smart strategy, "Kanye is offering us this, but we'll sell to you for this" — imagine being known as the buyer who beat Kanye in a business deal.
Although, it was recently announced that Kanye would have to pay Kim Kardashian $200,000 a month in child support. Yikes. West probably won't have enough money to fund the deal anyway. While the rest of us deal with inflation and cost of living issues, rich people are contending with excessive child support. Just let me find my tiny violin.
The timing of Parler announcing the deal was off mid-November seems to coincide with Kanye recently going on the Alex Jones Show and praising Hitler and the Nazis. How convenient. I'm sure it's just a coincidence, or perhaps it's Parler slamming the truck into reverse before it smashes into the concrete retaining wall.
After Kanye said he loves the Nazis and Jewish people, even Alex Jones seemed to be taken aback, "Ha ha, oh man. I'm gonna have to disagree with that" — you know you've reached the next level of crazy when Alex Jones doesn't agree with you. A guy who has to pay $1 billion in damages because of his controversial statements on the Sandy Hook massacre.
So, yeah.
