I will be very keen to see how the recipient gets on. Reason being, not too long ago I read about the first pig heart transplantation, which didn't go so well. The bit you quoted about deactivating retroviruses makes it sound like the company providing the kidney learned some important lessons from what went wrong with this poor guy, whose pig heart came from their competitor company.

Side note: the same hospital pioneered the first penile transplant in 2016. I wonder how long it'll be before guys start applying to be the recipients of larger wangs... 🤔
