☀️ The Friendship Game.
The referee's whistle blows and tension mounts on the court as the match is about to begin. Carolina, attentive in her position, watches as the very tall player on the other side of the court takes two steps forward, throws the ball in the air and, with a nimble leap, performs the solid and tenacious kick-off of the match.
The ball shoots in a straight downward line, straight towards the area where she is standing. With a swift movement of her body to the right, Carolina barely manages to intercept the ball with her arms before it hits the ground. With great precision, the ball rises gracefully towards the central zone, next to the net, where Darían, the blonde setter of the team, receives it between her fingers and raises it again, for a precise and accurate shot on the left side, made after an impressive jump, by Jimena, the captain and top star of the team.
The fierce shot hits directly into the humanity of the libero of the opposing team, a tiny girl with copper hair, green eyes, and a white complexion, who with great agility and almost kneeling, receives it with both her fists, but deflecting the rebound of the ball to the back of the court. The girl, who had earlier served the ball, runs after her and, almost at the edge of the court, jumps over some chairs while with her left hand, she hits the ball back into the court.
The sequence continues and, while the second shot of Carolina's team succeeds in getting the opening point, everyone at that moment realizes what is happening. The young woman, who heroically saved the previous rebound with a spectacular leap, is on the floor, visibly in pain.
The game is stopped for a few moments and after the intervention and evaluation by the appropriate personnel, the result could not be more frustrating. The game had already started quite late because the opposing team was missing several of its members. After a long wait and almost on the verge of declaring victory due to the absence of six players, the missing player showed up at that moment, and, dramatically, the game began immediately.
Now, with the opposing team's star player injured in one of her legs, Carolina and her team have a clear advantage over their rivals. This situation puts Carolina in a point of dissatisfaction, as she does not think the game is fair and balanced.
"I think we should make the game fairer and not take advantage of this advantage", says Carolina with a hint of frustration.
"The rules are the rules and they can play with five members", Angela replies.
"We could lend them one of us", affirms Darían, who had previously set up the two finishing plays, while smiling sweetly.
"Right, let's lend them Marianita", says Grisel, the tallest of all the girls and an excellent blocker, referring to the little ebony-skinned girl, reserve fullback of her team, "so she would help us win from the other side" while laughing loudly.
"What's going on here?" -interrupts the coach as he approaches the girls at the edge of the court, accompanied by Jimena.
After letting her know what is happening, a controversy arises, because while some agree with Carolina's position, others prefer to stick to the rules of the game and continue with the match.
The match is stopped and the referee blows his whistle to indicate that the game should continue. After the heated discussion between Carolina, her teammates, and the coach, they decide to appeal to the referee's opinion.
The referee, after listening attentively to Carolina's team's approach, asks them to use their best sportsmanship and decide what would be the best solution to continue the match.
"You could lend a player to the opposing team", says the referee with a tone of authority, "but you must keep in mind the conflict of interest in this case and if that player will be impartial in case they are losing the game later", he concludes very seriously, while some of the girls struggle to contain their laughter.
After a brief deliberation, it was decided to continue with five players, to equalize the teams, and Carolina herself offered to step aside from the contest on the court. The referee endorsed the decision, although the girls agreed to rotate with those on the bench so that everyone could play and the match was immediately restarted.
It was a hard-fought match, where the girls of the opposing team put on their best show. Carolina and her teammates, feeling that they were on equal terms, played very disciplined and, in the end, got the victory after a hard-fought third set.
The hugs and happy faces of the girls from both teams, when the match ended, were a clear sign of solidarity and sporting empathy. They all felt like winners because, beyond the confrontation on the court, friendship was present among all of them from that moment on.

☀️ El Juego de la Amistad.
Suena trepidante el silbato del árbitro y la tensión aumenta en la cancha cuando el partido está por iniciar. Carolina, atenta en su posición, observa como la muy alta jugadora al otro lado de la cancha, da dos pasos hacia delante, lanza el balón al aire y, con un ágil salto, efectúa el sólido y tenaz saque inicial del encuentro.
El balón sale disparado en línea recta descendente, directo hacia la zona en donde ella se encuentra ubicada. Con un veloz movimiento de su cuerpo hacia la derecha, Carolina logra, a duras penas, interceptar la pelota con sus brazos antes de que toque el piso. Con gran precisión, el balón se eleva con gracia hacia la zona central, junto a la red, donde Darían, la rubia armadora del equipo, la recibe entre sus dedos y la eleva de nuevo, para un preciso y certero remate en el lado izquierdo, efectuado tras un impresionante salto, por Jimena, la capitana y máxima estrella del conjunto.
El feroz remate da directo en la humanidad de la líbero del equipo contrario, una chica diminuta de cabello cobrizo, ojos verdes y de tez blanca, que con gran agilidad y casi arrodillada, lo recibe con sus dos puños, pero desviando el rebote de la pelota hacia la parte trasera de la cancha. La chica, que antes había efectuado el saque, corre tras ella y, casi al borde de los límites del lugar, salta sobre unas sillas mientras con su mano izquierda golpea el balón de vuelta a la cancha.
La secuencia siguió su curso y, mientras el segundo remate del equipo de Carolina logra el cometido de conseguir el punto inicial, todos en ese instante se percatan de lo que está sucediendo. La joven, que de manera heroica salvó el rebote anterior con un salto espectacular, se encuentra en el piso, visiblemente adolorida.
El partido se detiene por unos instantes y luego de la intervención y avaluación por parte del personal adecuado, el resultado no puede ser más frustrante. Ya de por sí, el juego había comenzado con bastante retraso, por la razón de que el equipo contrario se encontró con la ausencia de varias de sus integrantes. Luego de una larga espera y casi a punto de declararse la victoria por ausencia de las seis jugadoras, se presentó en ese instante y, de manera dramática, la jugadora faltante, por lo que de inmediato, se dio comienzo al partido.
Ahora, con la estrella del equipo contrario lesionada en una de sus piernas, Carolina y su equipo tienen una clara ventaja sobre sus rivales. Esta situación pone a Carolina en un punto de inconformidad, ya que no le parece justo ni equilibrado el juego.
—Creo que debemos hacer que el juego sea más justo y no aprovecharnos de esta ventaja, —indica Carolina con un dejo de frustración.
—Las reglas son las reglas y ellas pueden jugar con cinco integrantes, —responde Ángela.
—Podríamos prestarle a una de nosotras, —afirma Darían, quien antes había armado las dos jugadas de remate, mientras sonríe dulcemente.
—Cierto, prestémosles a Marianita, —dice de inmediato Grisel, la más espigada de todas las chicas y excelente bloqueadora, refiriéndose a la pequeña de piel de ébano, zaguero de reserva de su equipo, —así nos ayudaría a ganar desde el otro lado, —mientras ríe ruidosamente.
—¿Qué sucede aquí? —interrumpe el entrenador cuando se acerca a las chicas al borde de la cancha, acompañado de Jimena.
Luego de hacerle saber lo que está sucediendo, se suscita una controversia, ya que mientras algunas están de acuerdo con la posición de Carolina, las otras prefieren atenerse a las reglas del juego y continuar con el mismo.
El partido se mantiene detenido y el árbitro hace sonar su silbato para indicar que continúen con el encuentro. Luego de la acalorada discusión entre Carolina, sus compañeras y el entrenador, deciden apelar a la opinión del árbitro.
Este, después de escuchar atentamente el planteamiento del equipo de Carolina, les pide recurran a su mayor espíritu de deportividad y decidan cuál sería la mejor solución para continuar con el partido.
—Podrian prestarle una jugadora al equipo contrario, —les dice el arbitro con tono de autoridad, —pero deben tener presente el conflicto de interes en este caso y si realmente esa jugadora sera imparcial en caso de que esten perdiendo el partido mas adelante, —concluye sentenciando muy serio, mientras algunas de las chicas luchan por contener las risas.
Después de una breve deliberación, se decidió continuar con cinco jugadoras, de manera de equiparar los equipos, ofreciéndose la misma Carolina a apartarse de la contienda en la cancha. El árbitro avaló la decisión, aunque las chicas acordaron rotarse con las del banquillo para que todas pudieran jugar y de inmediato se reinició el partido.
Fue un encuentro aguerrido, donde las chicas del equipo contrario dieron su mejor espectáculo. Carolina y sus compañeras, al sentir que estaban en igualdad de condiciones, jugaron muy disciplinadamente y, al final, consiguieron la victoria después de un muy disputado tercer set.
Los abrazos y las caras de felicidad de las chicas de ambos equipos cuando terminaron el encuentro fueron una muestra clara de solidaridad y empatía deportiva. Realmente, todas se sintieron ganadoras, porque más allá del enfrentamiento en la cancha, la amistad se hizo presente entre todas ellas a partir de ese momento.
El voleibol es uno de mis deportes favoritos, después del tenis y el béisbol.
