A woman out of the ordinary - The Ink Well Fiction Prompt #126

in The Ink Well11 months ago

Gaviota was a very pretty young woman, with brown skin. Her yellow hair covered her hips like a balm that soothes the skin from the scorching sun. She lived in a humble home, in a house in front of the beach, in the afternoon the seagulls perched on the sea, hence the inspiration of her mother Cecilia and her father Tomas, both elderly, gave her her name.

When Gaviota became a teenager, she liked to help her mother at home. She was also attracted to jobs that demanded physical effort, so much so that in her spare time she would go to her father's workshop to help him with some of the cars that were taken to the mechanic's workshop for her father to repair.

One morning, when the dawn was just setting, the young woman got up, went to the kitchen and made some coffee. She went to her parents' room, she had two cups of hot coffee in her hands, she realized that her father was not there, but she kissed her mother on the cheek and whispered in her ear:

Mother, I'm going to the workshop , I come at noon to help you with lunch.

His sleepy mother replied with a smile on her face.

God bless you.

The young lady left her house to go to her father's workshop. As soon as she arrived, she began to work tirelessly. When the noon hour arrived, she told her father:

Father, we must close the workshop to go home, we come at three o'clock in the afternoon.

Mr. Tomas agreed to the suggestions that his daughter had made, and they closed the shop. When they arrived at the sector, they realized that the house was completely closed, Gaviota was surprised, but did not pay attention to it. She opened the door of the house, went to the kitchen, saw no one, went to her mother's bedroom and saw her asleep. He approached her and touching her, he told her

Mother, wake up, we have arrived.

When she realized that her mother was unresponsive, she was overcome with grief. However, she found the strength to go to her father and tell him the tragic news, in fractions of minutes, invaded their lives. She took charge of the entire funeral, but told her father

You know I will never leave your side, our life must remain the same, we will work together to support you and keep the house.

Her father, sobbing, hugged her very tightly. Under these circumstances, Gaviota got a job as a waitress in a cafeteria, while her father attended the mechanical workshop. Since she liked physical labor, she was also in charge of receiving the merchandise that arrived in boxes at the cafeteria and sorting them. Every Friday he received his pay for the week. On Saturdays he went to the market early in the morning to buy vegetables.

I admire your story and Gaviota's courage in taking on the role of her mother, who passed away. Happy night.

Gaviota seems like a strong and supportive lady for her family, putting past her grief and focusing on working hard to support her father
