Christmas gone south

A few minutes later, I noticed that my mum looked unwell.

"Mum, are you alright? You don't look well" I said.

"Yes, I'm alright. I'm just tired, and I have a slight headache" she said.

"Okay, just get some rest" I replied.

An hour later, I went to check up on her where she laid down, and she looked even worse.

"Mum, you have a fever", I said as I touched her.

"I feel hot and cold at the same time. The headache has also gotten worse", she said.

I watched as she shivered, and it was then I realized it was going to be a turbulent Christmas.

The transformation

The pickle-like organisms were close together, their surfaces rough with long appendages at the ends. Their color was not as green as we thought, but a silvery gray.

We heard a call signal. Cali touched her left ear and turned on the intercom.

I did the same, and the captain's voice came through loud and clear. "Be careful; we have detected aggression in some sea pickle-like organisms. Do not approach".

"We are very close to them, captain. They are occupying the whole valley up to the lake shore".

"You have to go back; just search them. Don't come any closer".

But Milo did not obey the captain's order and moved even closer.

The one save

image.png

Pixabay

Monroe knew the right thing was to jump in and try to save Tom whether dead or not, but his anger at Tom at that moment was so huge that it was almost an effort standing there.
He was still contemplating this when Tom's hand moved in the water, there was no excuse now, the guy was obviously still alive.

It took a few minutes but Monroe eventually got Tom out of the water and was able to resuscitate him before calling for an ambulance. Tom on the other hand was ashamed of his actions and couldn't believe he'd been saved even after trying to attack Monroe. The ambulance arrived and Monroe left them to their job as they wheeled Tom out of the swimming area.

Sir Pickle

image.png

Pixabay

There was only laughter and then a great silence that gripped the cold, opaque, musty walls of the cell. Sir Pickle searched the whole place, but there was no escape, it only remained for him to wait until the next day to learn his fate. In the morning, Sir Pickle opened his eyes to the glare of the sun.

He heard firm footsteps approaching in a hurry, it was an almost melodic sound. They opened the cell door and led Sir Pickle out to the execution yard. The white cucumbers placed Sir Pickle in a giant machine, it was round with six sharp blades at the end. Sir Pickle was placed under the machine. The pressure of the machine on Sir Pickle would cause him to be broken into six long pieces.

Makea's Ascension

image.png

“She’s at it again,” Makea muttered and sighed. She walked to the backyard to find her grandmother making funny gestures with a ball of cloud in her hand. The aura of magic was always so close in Palagos at that time of the year that people often interacted with it just like Diddy was doing with the clouds that had lowered from the sky.

“Are you doing a transfer with the clouds again Diddy?” Makea teased her grandmother.

“Ummhm! You wouldn't believe me no matter how much I try to tell you. We can tap into a little of all this magic tantalizing us now and then.”

What a Pickle

image.png

Image created using Canva

Immediately, I flipped through my cooking book. Looking for any salad recipes that included pickles. Do I have to salt it first? Clear out the insides? Or do I slice and sprinkle it on top the sliced cabbage and diced carrots just like you do with a cucumber?

The possible ways of cooking were endless. Yet, which one was the correct way?
Mr. Right couldn’t help but wonder.
