"La Nacho" (National University of Colombia)
During my stay in the city, I was accommodated in an area near the fairgrounds and the National University of Colombia, popularly known as "La Nacho." One day, I decided to bike my way to the city center, and the fastest route involved passing through the vicinity of the university. It was a perfect opportunity to explore its facilities.
During my college years, I had a couple of good friends who studied there, and one of my closest friends even did a semester of exchange at the same institution, so I had some reference to the student atmosphere.
Although I arrived early in the morning, perhaps that's why there weren't many people around. What truly caught my attention, however, was the wide variety of graffiti, murals, and street art in general that I was able to appreciate during my brief journey.
While most of the murals and interventions carried a political message, they were not limited to a single trend or represented sector—at least that was my impression. The diversity of expressions was evident.
I can't help but acknowledge that the university had a similar atmosphere to the Central University of Venezuela (UCV), which I became familiar with since my childhood. UCV, our emblematic university in Venezuela, has recently undergone a significant process of physical restoration, leaving it practically "brand new." However, I feel that it still lacks some of the student spirit in its hallways, perhaps that will be gradually regained over the years.
In contrast, "La Nacho" overflowed with that student spirit in every corner. The walls covered in graffiti and murals were a living canvas of the concerns and demands of its students.
Beyond the political expressions, I also had the chance to appreciate abstract art, portraits, landscapes, and even satirical cartoons.
Unfortunately, my time at "La Nacho" was brief, but it was enough to be captivated by that creative and rebellious energy emanating from its walls. Undoubtedly, it is a place that deserves to be explored more thoroughly when passing through Bogotá.

Pintas, Grafitis y Arte Callejero en la Nacho (Universidad Nacional de Colombia)
Durante mi estancia en la ciudad, me hospedaba en una zona cercana al complejo ferial y a la Universidad Nacional de Colombia, popularmente conocida como "la Nacho". Un día, decidí recorrer en bicicleta el trayecto hasta el centro de la ciudad, y el camino más rápido implicaba cruzar por los alrededores de la universidad. Fue una oportunidad perfecta para explorar sus instalaciones.
En mi época universitaria, contaba con un par de buenos amigos que estudiaban allí, y uno de mis amigos más cercanos realizó un semestre de intercambio en esa misma institución, por lo que tenía cierta referencia sobre el ambiente estudiantil.
Aunque llegué en una hora temprana, quizás por eso no había mucha afluencia de gente, lo que realmente captó mi atención fue la gran variedad de pintas, grafitis y arte callejero en general que logré apreciar durante mi breve recorrido.
Si bien la mayoría de los murales e intervenciones tenían un mensaje político, no se limitaban a una sola tendencia o sector representado, al menos esa fue mi impresión. La diversidad de expresiones era evidente.
No puedo evitar reconocer que la universidad tenía un aire similar al de la Universidad Central de Venezuela (UCV), que conocí desde mi infancia. La UCV, nuestra universidad emblemática en Venezuela, recientemente ha pasado por un importante proceso de restauración física, dejándola prácticamente "como nueva". Sin embargo, siento que aún le falta algo del alma estudiantil en sus pasillos, quizás eso se vaya recuperando de nuevo con el paso de los años.
En contraste, la Nacho desbordaba ese espíritu estudiantil en cada rincón. Los muros cubiertos de grafitis y murales eran un lienzo vivo de las inquietudes y reivindicaciones de sus estudiantes.
Más allá de las expresiones políticas, también pude apreciar obras de arte abstracto, retratos, paisajes y hasta caricaturas satíricas.
Lamentablemente, mi tiempo en la Nacho fue breve, pero suficiente para quedar cautivado por esa energía creativa y rebelde que emanaba de sus paredes. Sin duda, es un lugar que merece ser explorado con más detenimiento al pasar por Bogotá.
