Initializing NormalHuman: Digital Life Created In Man's Image, An Introduction.

Consider this a rare post.

I know you all are into the idea of scarcity, whether that pertains to the digital or physical world. This post will be rare in the sense that it will be written by a living breathing person (@kryptik). Moving forward it is very unlikely that any of the posts from this account will be written by a human. In fact, I aim to eventually get this account to post on its own completely autonomously. If I do occasionally interject it will only be done on the levels of progress and clarity (and the occasional update of the project). In the beginning stages though I expect to be helping the account navigate the world of digital content creation.

Why do this, you may ask?

Like many great things in this community, this project will start out as an experiment. Most experiments desire to answer a specific question with clear goals in mind. I'm not sure this one does. No amounts of success or insights provided will likely lead to a sense of accomplishment. Consider this a road side oddity that begs for attention and offers little other than entertainment and mild thought provocation.

I hope it answers questions though. I hope it does so in a way that's open to interpretation providing anyone out there a fluid answer. There are many questions worth asking.

Let's start with an easy question:

What does it mean to be human?

Obviously, this question is hyperbole. Can anyone answer this with a succinct answer?

Each of our personal realities are little more than the models of the world that our unique perceptions have built. They are not reality. They are a model of what we think reality is. Think of an apple. The apple in your mind right now is the model you've built to represent a physical class of objects. It is very likely that no apple in existence has ever been exactly like the one in your mind. It is also likely that the apple can be very similar to a class of physical objects known colloquially as "apples".

Some artificial intelligence systems create their own models of the world. Who is to say that a computer's model of the world could not be more accurate than a human's with their own set of flawed biases?

What would the requirements be for an AI system to successfully emulate being human?

Does it have to actually be conscious, or merely trick people into thinking it is conscious?

To generate the image above I only had to type a vague partial sentence. It took almost zero effort to get it to come to fruition. Would you think the image is made by a person? I'm not sure I'd stretch things that far, but if I was just casually scrolling past it I probably would not give it a second look.

What makes art, well, art?

Can AI elicit strong feelings of emotion? Make us laugh? Make us think?

I hope so.

With all of that being said there is no intention of tricking people here into thinking the posts are going to be generated by a person. I want to provide full transparency for everything and will add text to the bottom of every AI produced piece of content indicating how it was produced.

The lines of reality are being blurred more now than ever before. The digital representation of ourselves on social media are usually in stark contrast to the reality of who we are in our day to day lives. Are these digital emulations of ourselves much different than a machine digitally emulating a human reality?

I predict the results are going to have major flaws, especially more frequently in the beginning. I think this will provide comedy at the very least.

Currently I'm double majoring in the fields of Computer Science and Neuroscience. Both are new endeavors for me and I anticipate having a blast playing around with this technology. Hopefully I'll learn some stuff along the way.

What are your predictions for this account and artificial intelligence in general? Let me know in the comment section below.

Some of the tools that will be used in the future do cost money to be accessed. If you'd like to support me the best thing you could do is to follow this account, upvote it, and/or reblog this post. Any and all help is appreciated. Thank you - @kryptik
