It regulates your decision-making, is responsible for pumping blood, breathing, and sleeping, and has power over the cerebellum and the cerebrum. It controls your conscience and consciousness. It is the guy you go to if you need connections that will change your life.
It can change your life that is why it is the center for SELF MODIFICATION
The part of the brain stem that concerns our lecture tonight is the MEDULLA OBLONGATA. The Oga patapata of them all.
As a Nigerian, if you have not heard this term before you must be from a very rich family who goes overseas for holidays.
The Medulla Oblongata is responsible for your life-sustaining voluntary and involuntary actions. It is Mr. Control himself.
Every decision you make in your life comes from him go or bad. When the Cerebellum gets suggestions from the cerebrum, the Cerebellum brings it to the Medulla for decision-making.
When you decide to go to school and you decide to read or decide to play, it is your Medulla that is working tirelessly to make it happen, all the new skills you are learning, offline and online, you only learn because your Medulla decided it is good to learn, it can also decide to learn bad things.
In children, their Medulla makes them stingy for a while especially when they start walking. Give them fried plantain and ask for it back, they will not give you.

It is the Medulla that makes you tell yourself that I am not useless, I made a mistake, I wasted 5 years of my life but I forgive myself and I can achieve again. It is the one that will tell you not to sleep with your maid or take advantage of a man who loves you.
It is the Medulla that the Holy Spirit lands upon that convicts men of their sin and gives them an encounter of a changed mind and a changed story. You will see someone who was a chronic debtor change for good.
