I associate Greece with holidays, relaxation, rest and delicious food. It is best when this food is eaten in one of the Greek restaurants, in the open air, listening to the sound of the waves or the sound of cicadas. In order to feel the cool emotions that I associate with this southern European country again and to taste Greek food, I went to the Greek Santorini tavern in Warsaw. It is located on the left side of the Vistula, in Saska Kępa. It took me a while to get there, but as soon as I entered I knew it was worth it.

Grecja kojarzy mi się z wakacjami, luzem, odpoczynkiem oraz pysznym jedzeniem. Najlepiej spożywanym w jednej z greckich restauracji, na świeżym powietrzu, słuchając szumu fal albo dźwięku cykad. Żeby znowu poczuć fajne emocje, które kojarzą mi się z tym południowoeuropejskim krajem oraz skosztować greckiego jedzenia wybrałam się do greckiej tawerny Santorini w Warszawie. Znajduje się ona po lewej stronie Wisły, na Saskiej Kępie. Dojazd tam zajął mi trochę czasu, ale już od wejścia wiedziałam, że było warto.

Gdy weszłam do tawerny Santorini poczułam się jakbym znów była w Grecji.
Wewnątrz dominowały dwa kolory: biały i niebieski. To barwy greckiej flagi. Była ona też rozwieszona na jednej ze ścian. To co od razu zauważyłam i co bardzo mi się spodobało to białe fragmenty ścian, w kształcie schodów. Wyglądały tak jak białe schody na greckiej wyspie Santorini. Te fragmenty ścian były niskie i fajnie oddzielały od reszty sali dając dużo prywatności.

When I entered the Santorini tavern, I felt like I was back in Greece. Inside, two colors dominated: white and blue. These are the colors of the Greek flag. It was also hung on one of the walls. What I noticed right away and what I really liked were the white fragments of the walls, in the shape of stairs. They looked just like the famous white stairs on the Greek island of Santorini. These fragments of the walls were low and nicely separated from the rest of the room, giving a lot of privacy.

The restaurant has two rooms. One of them has an interesting roof, as if it was made of bamboo or reeds. Such a design reminds me of holiday, exotic atmospheres. In this room, many seats have comfortable, soft backrests at the back. On the wall there is a painting with a ship sailing on the sea and the inscription Santorini, as well as many framed photos referring to the island of Santorini. Some of the tables are made of wood, while others have colorful tiles on the top.

Restauracja składa się z dwóch pomieszczeń. Jedno z nich ma ciekawe zadaszenie, jakby było zrobione z bambusa lub trzciny. Taki design kojarzy mi się z wakacyjnymi, egzotycznymi klimatami. W tym pomieszczeniu wiele miejsc siedzących ma z tyłu wygodne, miękkie oparcia. Na ścianie wisi obraz ze statkiem płynącym po morzu i z napisem Santorini, a także dużo zdjęć oprawionych w ramki, nawiązujących do wyspy Santorini. Niektóre stoliki są drewniane, a blat innych został ozdobiony kolorowymi płytkami.

The bar has also been designed in an interesting way. It looks a bit like a beach bar. Many glasses hang from the upper wooden beams painted blue.

Bar również został zaprojektowany w interesujący sposób. Wygląda trochę jak plażowy bar. Z górnych drewnianych, pomalowanych na niebiesko belek zwisa dużo kieliszków.

I went to the Santorini restaurant with my friend. We sat in a great, secluded place that gave both a lot of privacy and a view of the whole room. Thanks to the white walls in the shape of stairs, you could feel there as if you were in a separate tiny room. Perfect for me 😉 Also for my friend.

Do restauracji Santorini wybrałam się z koleżanką. Usiadłyśmy w świetnym, ustronnym miejscu dającym zarówno dużo prywatności, jak i widok na całą salę. Dzięki białym ściankom w kształcie schodów można się tam było poczuć jak w osobnym maleńkim pomieszczeniu. Jak dla mnie idealnie 😉 Dla koleżanki też.

The menu card was simply designed but looked modern at the same time. I liked the hand-drawn drawings of fish, olive branches, and a Greek vase. And most importantly, what was on the menu, I was wondering for a moment what to choose.

Karta menu była prosto zaprojektowana, ale jednocześnie wyglądała nowocześnie. Spodobały mi się odręczne rysunki ryb, gałązek oliwnych, czy greckiej wazy. A także najważniejsze, to co było w menu, chwilę zastanawiałam się co wybrać.

I decided to order Halloumi Bifteki, which is a kind of burger with halloumi cheese in coating and grilled vegetables. It was served in pita bread. In addition to it, I got a salad, fries and mayonnaise-cream sauce with herbs.

Zdecydowałam się na Bifteki halloumi, czyli takiego jakby burgera z serem halloumi w panierce i z grillowanymi warzywami. Był podany w chlebku pita. Oprócz niego dostałam surówkę, frytki i sos majonezowo-śmietanowy z ziołami.

My friend, however, ordered Kolokhitokeftedes, zucchini and feta pancakes, and Tzatziki and pita bread.

Za to moja koleżanka zamówiła Kolokhitokeftedes, czyli placuszki z cukinii i fety oraz Tzatziki i chlebki pita.

Later, my friend ordered Bifteki scharas, a burger similar to mine, but instead of halloumi cheese it had pork and lamb meat. The rest of the toppings were as in my dish. The portions were large, nutritious, and the food was very tasty.

Później koleżanka zamówiła jeszcze Bifteki scharas, czyli burgera podobnego do mojego, tylko, że zamiast sera halloumi miał mięso wieprzowo-jagnięce. Reszta dodatków była taka jak w moim daniu. Porcje były duże, pożywne, a jedzenie bardzo smaczne.

I will also mention the bathroom, because in this restaurant every detail was taken care of. I was pleasantly surprised that the restaurant was also designed in Greek style. With white walls and large blue wooden doors to the toilets.

Wspomnę jeszcze o łazience, ponieważ w tej restauracji zadbano o każdy szczegół. Mile zaskoczyło mnie, że restauracja również została zaprojektowana japo grecku.Z białymi ścianami i dużymi, niebieskimi, drewnianymi drzwiami do toalet.

Another cool detail - the stairs. Painted white, blue, beige. Walking on them, you could feel as if you were walking down a Greek, narrow street. I am full of appreciation for the people who designed the interiors of this restaurant and I will definitely come back there more than once.

I kolejny fajny szczegół - schody. Pomalowane na biało, niebiesko, beżowo. Idąc po nich można się było poczuć, jakby się szło grecką, wąską uliczką. Jestem pełna uznania dla osób, które zaprojektowały wnętrza tej restauracji i na pewno wrócę tam nieraz.
