On this occasion I will take you to visit the Museo Cuartel General del Ejército Libertador, a place that gives great historical importance to the Quinta de los Molinos, in the Centro Habana municipality, an extensive park that houses the former Botanical Garden of Havana, which reminded me that it is Earth Day. This park is an impressive extension of vegetation and fauna, which holds the title of National Monument, is carefully cared for being an important lung of our city. Recently, I had the opportunity to take a tour of this beautiful place, and if you don't know it yet, just go to this publication to discover it.

En esta ocasión los llevaré a visitar el Museo Cuartel General del Ejército Libertador, lugar que le da gran importancia histórica a la Quinta de los Molinos, en el municipio Centro Habana, un extenso parque que alberga el antiguo Jardín Botánico de La Habana,lo que me recordó que es el Día de la Tierra. Este parque es una impresionante extensión de vegetación y fauna, que ostenta el título de Monumento Nacional, es cuidado con esmero siendo un importante pulmón de nuestra ciudad. Recientemente tuve la oportunidad de hacer un recorrido por este hermoso lugar, y si aún no lo conoces, solo tienes que ir a esta publicación para descubrirlo.
Today we will enter this museum, which has great historical importance for my country, as it houses numerous documents, photographs and belongings of Máximo Gómez during the struggle for independence. It has become a priceless historical legacy for future generations. This particular museum was the residence of the Captains General during the colonial era, and later it was the home of Máximo Gómez and some members of the Liberating Army after the culmination of the War of Independence. Hence its name.
Hoy nos adentraremos en este museo, que tiene una gran importancia histórica para mi país, ya que alberga numerosos documentos, fotografías y pertenencias de Máximo Gómez durante la lucha por la independencia. Se ha convertido en un legado histórico de incalculable valor para las generaciones futuras. Este museo en particular fue la residencia de los Capitanes Generales durante la época colonial, y posteriormente fue el hogar de Máximo Gómez y algunos miembros del Ejército Libertador tras la culminación de la Guerra de Independencia. De ahí su nombre.
This beautiful house suffered great deterioration over many years, and hardly any doors and windows were left standing and humidity and neglect had taken hold of it. The Office of the City Historian took charge of its recovery, making sure to maintain its original appearance and transforming it into the museum we know today.
The museum opened its doors to the public on February 22, 2020, a date that coincides with the arrival of Máximo Gómez to this house in 1899. In front of the museum, we are greeted by an imposing fountain from which you can see the entire exterior of the building. I love the combination of colors that can be seen, with yellow walls, window frames and eaves of the portal in blue, along with the beautiful stained glass windows over the large windows.
Esta hermosa casa sufrió un gran deterioro a lo largo de muchos años, y apenas quedaban en pie puertas y ventanas y la humedad y el abandono se habían apoderado de ella. La Oficina del Historiador de la Ciudad se encargó de su recuperación, asegurándose de mantener su aspecto original y transformándola en el museo que hoy conocemos.
El Museo abrió sus puertas al público el 22 de febrero de 2020, fecha que coincide con la llegada de Máximo Gómez a esta casa en el año 1899. Delante del museo, nos recibe una imponente fuente desde ella se puede observar todo el exterior del edificio. Me encanta la combinación de colores que se aprecia, con paredes amarillas, marcos de ventanas y aleros del portal en azul, junto con los hermosos vitrales sobre los grandes ventanales.
As you enter the house, there is a brightness coming from the stained glass windows and the many blinds that adorn the windows from the floor to almost touching the ceiling. The house is painted white on the inside and has two rows of columns and arches that embellish the grounds. The main living room furniture is wicker, with comfortable cushions.
Al entrar en la casa, se percibe una gran luminosidad proveniente de los cristales de colores y de las numerosas persianas que adornan los ventanales desde el suelo hasta casi tocar el techo. La casa está pintada de blanco en su interior y cuenta con dos filas de columnas y arcos que embellecen el recinto. Los muebles del salón principal son de mimbre, con cómodos cojines.
On the sides, there are large descriptive banners about Gómez, his family and his struggle for independence. The corridors border these banners, with beautiful windows facing the exterior and interior doors leading to the rooms. Although the first floor rooms were not open to the public, one could appreciate the large doors with arched brickwork, which made them very beautiful.
A los costados, se encuentran grandes pancartas descriptivas sobre la figura de Gómez, familiares y su lucha independentista. Los corredores bordean estas pancartas, con hermosos ventanales que dan al exterior y puertas interiores que conducen a las habitaciones. Aunque las habitaciones de la planta baja no estaban abiertas al público, se podía apreciar las grandes puertas con trabajos en arco de ladrillos, lo cual las hacía muy hermosas.
On the second floor, smaller than the lower one, there are exhibition rooms that narrate the whole independence struggle, conference rooms and some sculptures. There is a large and fresh terrace that borders the entire building on that floor with a brown tiled floor, all very clean and well maintained, from it you can see the beautiful vegetation that surrounds the large house.
En la segunda planta, más pequeña que la inferior, se encuentran salones expositores que narran toda la contienda independentista, salas de conferencias y algunas esculturas. Existe una amplia y fresca terraza que bordea toda la edificación de esa planta con un suelo de baldosas marrones, todo muy limpio y bien cuidado, desde ella se puede contemplar la hermosa vegetación que rodea la gran casona.
As we descend, we observe that at the back there is a beautiful fountain where water gushes and falls into a pond inhabited by colorful carp. Around the fountain there is beautiful vegetation. It is a place where all the elements, such as the stone floor, the fountain and the vegetation, transport us to past times.
Al bajar, observamos que en la parte trasera hay una hermosa fuente donde el agua brota y cae en un estanque habitado coloridas carpas. Alrededor de la fuente hay una hermosa vegetación. Es un lugar donde todos los elementos, como el suelo de piedra, la fuente y la vegetación, nos transportan a épocas pasadas.
