Reading is part of one of my favorite habits, and despite the different electronic devices that exist today to enjoy bibliography of all genres, I still choose the hardcover book. Nowadays I can't dedicate endless hours as I did during my student days, but I always reserve the final minutes, before going to bed, to read a little.
I just finished reading a book I bought at the last International Book Fair that takes place every year, during the month of February, in Cuba. This was a suggestion from a very jovial salesman who gave me a brief review of it, and what little he told me was interesting. The book is called The Scarlet Letter, and it has already been made into a movie; so perhaps many of you who read me will know a little of the plot. From my point of view it is a story full of love and hate, although I prefer to think that love triumphs.
The author of this work is Nathaniel Hawthorne, who was an American novelist and short story writer of the nineteenth century, and looking for information about it I learned that his work generated a lot of controversy in his time. Although I have not read the rest of his work, I enjoyed the literary style he uses because in his way of writing he manages to create in the reader's mind the exact scene, it seems that you can even feel the smell of each place.
The edition of the book I have at home is from 2018, from the Cuban publishing house Editorial Arte y Literatura, although there is already a first printed edition from 2012.
This novel has as its main character Ester Prynne, a woman who suffers bitterly the prejudices of the times she lived in, being forced to wear a scarlet letter A on her dress so that everyone who sees her knows that she has been an adulteress, and is treated as such, with much contempt. From the fruit of this forbidden love a beautiful girl was begotten, whom she loves madly, and the story unfolds with the questions of who is the father of the child, and why Esther guards this secret with such suspicion.
During the reading I was impressed with the public trial to which this woman was exposed, the author narrates it in a masterful way, and for those of us who live in this century such attitudes are incomprehensible.
In summary: I recommend the book The Scarlet Letter. It is a story that captures the reader and answers the questions that are awakened from the first pages.

Oh what pain that lady had to go through because of a sin she must have thought wouldn't come to light. I love the plot already but atp my heart has not gotten over the shock and pain from a certain novel I read so I'll just have this one in mind and whenever I heal properly, I'll go again. Imagine breaking my heart with books steadily. Lol. It's better that way than when a man does it 😂
