Hello Hello Community! ✨, originally this was not the next review I was going to bring you, I was going to continue with the order of Ali Hazelwood's books, however it was impossible for me not to skip all my list of reviews and bring you the one I bring you today, and it's basically for the simple reason that I need to talk about this book almost urgently 😂😂, it is not surprising to tell you that I got to this reading thanks to Tik Tok, and the truth is that when I decided to read it I thought it would be one more reading that I would like but that I would not fall in love completely, what a surprise I got when when I finished it I realized how much I liked it, so that is the reason why today I will talk about The Art of Being Us 📝🎨.
Logan is a tortured boy, who has known the pain of loss at a very young age, with a family clearly absent, his only support has been his grandmother, his friends Kenny and Sasha and his loneliness, he has hardened his heart and locked up his feelings, he has decided that it is better not to let his pain show and not to worry about what others say, making himself look like the bad guy in a story that has not really been told. Leah feels like the supporting character in her own story, always on the sidelines, she has locked away her true essence for fear of what people will say, and it is only through the stories she writes that she manages to show who she really is, a pity that these stories are not something she ventures to talk about with her loved ones and true friends.
Logan is by far the kind of guy Leah would rather avoid, reason tells her she should stay away but the attraction is strong enough not to. Leah isn't the kind of girl Logan usually goes for, but something about her has enchanted him from the first moment. Though neither was looking for the other, for some reason life brings them together, and what's between them works from the very first moment.
The Art of Being Us is the second novel by Spanish author Inma Rubiales, who started out writing stories on the popular Wattpad platform, and made the leap to print with her novel Until We Run Out of Stars. This story, like most of the romance genre, is framed in a cliché, in this case that of "friends with rights", and part of what makes the novel so entertaining to read is the way it narrates the events that lead the protagonists to make that decision, the author takes care of creating scenarios that promote tension between the two, but in addition to this she also creates spaces where a genuine friendship is built between them, Logan benefits from Leah's personality and in the same way Leah manages to grow thanks to Logan, and all this only from the perspective of a friendship. Something that I mainly love about the narrative of the story, is how it manages to touch on certain issues in a way that you can easily identify with as a reader, and also allows you to see how those wounds manage to heal and cope, such is the case of the grief that Logan goes through, where little by little the author allows you to collect information about that fact, making you see how painful it is for those who experience a situation like that, to talk about the loss.
The book is narrated from the perspective of both protagonists, which you already know I love, and in fact is a super wise decision considering the content that is handled in the story, it would be almost impossible to empathize with Logan's grief and Leah's anxiety if we didn't have the opportunity to know their intrinsic world, and just talking about anxiety, what a detailed and well handled way the author had to present this topic, really I could spend hours talking about how well these elements are narrated. Although the book is about romance, I feel that friendship is a fundamental aspect, not only healthy friendships but also toxic ones, because although it is rare to see (or at least from what I have read so far) this book touches on the issue of manipulation within friendships, and this is an element that resonates with me a lot, I myself in the past experienced friendships that were toxic and I know how hard it is not only to get out of it, but to realise the point of manipulation that you are subjected to, so for me it was very nice to read all those moments of denial, uncertainty and finally clarification that the author presented us with this element of the plot.
And likewise, the building of healthy, supportive and comforting friendships is something that is not only necessary in the story, but was done in the most genuine and accomplished way, it is even easy to perceive as you read, the shift from one form of "friendship" to the other, and while one tries to undermine and humiliate, the other does its best to help it blossom and shine.
Both Leah and Logan are very well built characters, that we see change and grow throughout the story, despite being only 494 pages, the character development they give us is absolutely admirable, however of both protagonists I feel that my favourite is Logan, I took a very special affection for him, he is that kind of person who cares more about seeing others grow than seeing himself heal, and that moved me too much. I have really few negative aspects to highlight of this story, even so I think the element that stood out the most for me were two, the first one is that they haven't given more family moments to Leah, during the whole book they let us see the great bond that she has with her parents and her brother, that excellent relationship of trust and harmony that makes a counterpart to Logan's family context, but with all this, there are few less family moments, I feel that there are specific parts of the story that involve the family that are not developed in the book, also as a second point, and I feel that this was the one that bothered me the most or left me with a bad taste in my mouth, and it is the lack of consequences that are handled in the story regarding the leak of personal information of a certain character.
One of the moments of uncertainty that the book relates has to do with the leaking of a personal image of one of the characters (you can imagine what kind of image), and I honestly feel that this is a particularly delicate issue that was not handled in the right way, basically because when it is discovered who was the person in charge of leaking that picture (which I actually realised from the beginning, I have @omarqm as a witness), that character does not suffer any consequences, so we are talking about violation of someone's right to privacy and disclosure of personal content, and yet there are no legal repercussions for the victim? , clearly this is a weak link that the story has left and in fact I feel it has become a bit normalised in this type of story 😕.

¡Hola Hola Comunidad! ✨, originalmente esta no era la siguiente reseña que les iba a traer, sino que seguiría con el orden de los libros de Ali Hazelwood, sin embargo fue para mi imposible no saltarme toda mis lista de reseñas y adelantar la que les traigo hoy, y es básicamente por la sencilla razón de que necesito hablar de este libro casi que con urgencia 😂😂, no es de sorprender que les diga que llegue a esta lectura gracias a Tik Tok, y la verdad es que cuando decidí leerlo pensé que sería una lectura más que me gustaría pero que no me enamoraría por completo, vaya sorpresa me lleve cuando al acabarlo me di cuenta de lo mucho que me había gustado, así que esa es la razón por la que el dia de hoy les hablare sobre El Arte de Ser Nosotros 📝🎨.
Logan es un chico torturado, que ha conocido el dolor de la pérdida muy jóven, con una familia claramente ausente, su único apoyo ha sido su abuela, sus amigos Kenny y Sasha y su soledad, ha endurecido su corazón y encerrado sus sentimientos, ha decidido que es mejor no dejar ver su dolor y no preocuparse por lo que digan los demás, haciéndose ver como el malo de una historia que realmente no ha sido contada. Leah se siente como el personaje secundario de su propia historia, siempre al margen de todo, ha encerrado su verdadera esencia por temor al qué dirán, y solo a través de las historias que escribe es que logra mostrar quien realmente es, lástima que éstas historias no sean algo de lo que ella se aventure a hablar con sus seres queridos y amigos verdaderos.
Logan es por mucho la clase de chico que Leah prefiere evitar, la razón le dice que debe alejarse pero la atracción es lo suficientemente fuerte como para no hacerlo. Leah no es la clase de chica que suele buscar Logan, pero algo en ella lo ha hechizado desde el primer momento. Aunque ninguno de los dos estaba buscando al otro, por alguna razón la vida los une, y lo que hay entre ellos funciona desde el primer momento.
El Arte de Ser Nosotros es la segunda novela de la autora española Inma Rubiales, quién inició escribiendo historias en la ya conocida plataforma de Wattpad, y saltó al papel con su novela Hasta que nos quedemos sin estrellas. Ésta historia, así como la mayoría del género romántico, se encuentra enmarcada en un cliché, en éste caso el de “amigos con derechos”, y parte de lo que hace la novela tan entretenida de leer es la forma en que narra los hechos que llevan a los protagonistas a tomar esa decisión, la autora se encarga de generar escenarios que propicien la tensión entre ambos, pero además de ésto también genera espacios en donde se construye una genuina amistad entre ellos, Logan se beneficia de la personalidad de Leah y del mismo modo Leah logra crecer gracias a Logan, y todo ésto sólo desde la perspectiva de una amistad. Algo que me encanta principalmente de la narrativa de la historia, es como logra tocar ciertos temas de una forma en la que fácilmente puedes sentirte identificado como lector, y que además te permite ver cómo esas heridas logran sanarse y enfrentarse, tal es el caso del duelo por el que transita Logan, en donde poco a poco la autora te permite ir recolectando información acerca de ese hecho, haciéndote ver lo doloroso que resulta para aquellos que experimentan una situación de ese estilo, hablar acerca de la pérdida. De igual forma, la sensación de inferioridad con la que lidiaba Leah y la forma en que se aborda en la historia, de una manera realista, te permite conectar con su historia y sus emociones.
El libro está narrado desde la perspectiva de ambos protagonistas, lo cual ya saben que me encanta, y que de hecho es una decisión super acertada teniendo en cuenta el contenido que se maneja en la historia, sería casi imposible lograr empatizar con el duelo de Logan y la ansiedad de Leah si no tuviésemos la oportunidad de conocer su mundo intrínseco, y justamente hablando de la ansiedad, que forma tan detallada y bien manejada tuvo la autora de presentar éste tema, de verdad que podría pasar horas hablando lo bien que están narrados éstos elementos. Si bien el libro es de romance, siento que la amistad es un aspecto fundamental, no solo las amistades sanas sino también las tóxicas, porque aunque sea poco común de ver (o al menos de lo que yo he leído hasta ahora) éste libro toca el tema de la manipulación dentro de las amistades, y éste es un elemento que para mí resuena mucho, yo misma en el pasado viví amistades que eran tóxicas y sé lo mucho que cuesta no solo salir de allí, sino darte cuenta el punto de manipulación al que estás sometido, así que para mí fue muy agradable leer todos esos momentos de negación, de incertidumbre y finalmente de clarificación que nos presentó la autora con éste elemento de la trama.
Y de igual forma, la construcción de amistades sanas, que brindan apoyo y confort, es algo que no solo resulta necesario en la historia, sino que ademas se hizo de la forma mas genuina y bien lograda, es incluso fácil de percibir mientras lees, el cambio de una forma de “amistad” a la otra, y mientras que una intenta socabar y humillar, la otra hace su esfuerzo por ayudar a florecer y brillar.
Tanto Leah como Logan son personajes muy bien construidos, que vemos cambiar y crecer a lo largo de la historia, a pesar de ser solamente 494 páginas, el desarrollo de los personajes que nos dan es absolutamente admirable, sin embargo de ambos protagonistas siento que mi favorito es Logan, le tomé un cariño muy especial, es esa clase de persona que le importa más ver a otros crecer que verse sanar a sí mismo, y eso me conmovió demasiado. Tengo realmente pocos aspectos negativos que destacar de ésta historia, aún así creo que el elemento que más resaltó para mí fueron dos, el primero es que no le hayan dado más momentos familiares a Leah, durante todo el libro nos dejan ver el gran vínculo que tiene ella con sus padres y su hermano, esa excelente relación de confianza y armonía que hace de contraparte al contexto familiar de Logan, pero con todo ésto son pocos lo menos familiares que nos dan, siento que hay partes específicas de la historia que involucran a la familia y que no las desarrollan en el libro, además como segundo punto, y siento que este fue el que más me molestó o me dejó con mal sabor de boca, y se trata de la falta de consecuencias que se manejan en la historia en cuanto a la filtración de información personal de cierto personaje.
Uno de los momentos de incertidumbre que relata el libro tiene que ver con la filtración de una imagen personal de uno de los personajes (ya se imaginarán qué tipo de imagen), y yo honestamente siento que ese particularmente es un tema bastante delicado que no se manejo de la forma adecuada, básicamente porque cuando se descubre quién fue la persona encargada de filtrar esa foto (que realmente yo me dí cuenta desde el inicio, tengo a @omarqm de testigo), dicho personaje no sufre ninguna consecuencia, o sea estamos hablando de violación del derecho a la privacidad de alguien y divulgación de contenido personal, ¿y aún así no hay repercuciones legales por parte de la víctima?, claramente es un eslabón débil que ha dejado la historia y que de hecho siento que se ha normalizado un poco en éste tipo de historias 😕.
