CCC's Street Art Contest #164 Amok Island, Cairns, Australia

in StreetArt8 months ago

Alright, another week another beautiful and colourful wall from me. I haven´t seen as much streetart as on my recent roadtrip along the australian east coast up till cairns and this is where I´ve found the following piece of art.

That huge mural that covers the whole wall of a big parking area was created by the dutch artist Amok Island who was born in Amsterdam. He´s now living in Fremantle, Perth where he makes grey wall more beautiful.

Heavily inspired by early naturalists’ scientific illustrations, his work embodies the accuracy and precision representative of technical drawings, used for identification purposes.

I really like his style and even tough it looks like its not really hard to paint I guess it wasn´t an easy one. As I went back a few steps I just realised how big it is compared to the cars and how hard it has to be to not lose overview.

Furthermore this awesome piece was painted as part of the Sea Walls that is a groundbreaking ARTivism program that brings the message of ocean conservation into streets around the world.

I do hope you like it as well and leave a comment.

That’s cool. It stands out in its spot.
I like the addition of the little fish.

How ironic to see discarded cigarette butts in your last image...one of the biggest culprits when it comes to damaging the environment.

I lived in Cairns for a time, my brother and his family still live there. I hope you're enjoying it.

wow thats crazy, I haven´t even seen that! Thats truly the most ironic thing I´ve seen in a while :)

Cigarette butts are really the cancer of this planet. A friend does regular clean ups in my home town and the amount of cigarette butts they pick up is insane.

You haven't seen it? Take a look in the last photo of this post you wrote...you'll see it.

well of course I´ve seen it after you mentioned it but haven´t seen it before. Shame on me...usually I´m the detective who find out things like this. :)

Lol...You were focused on the mural is all, I have seen that one with my own eyes and it's a good one...but it's easy to miss the obvious, I thought it was an interesting(and sad) dichotomy.

That style looks pretty clean for that spot, good selection G ⚡⚡🤛🏻

Yes clean is the right word...thanks for stopping :)

He is doing great work on those walls, very stunning. 👌

Yes he does. Check out his other works online...some really amazing murals

As you said much better than a grey wall. Very cool fish. Thanks for sharing these pics on The StreetArt Community.

Enjoy your day

Much better...I can see that most cities hire professionals now to make walls more colourful.
