As a followup to my #wednesdaywalk a couple of days ago, of course I had to pop the drone up somewhere. This set of images is from a location along a canal to the south east of the city.
From this distance, the amount of variety in the architecture of the skyline becomes apparent. The outdated buildings along the once crucial canal versus the modern-ish housing of the 20th century and the newest, glass clad offices and apartments of 21st century.
I was particularly interested in the viaduct just below centre in this image above. It once carried the railway line somewhere but bizarrely, it is now cut off and stops on the curve. It is overgrown on the top and at street level, there is no evidence of brickwork where it would have continued on.
When I go back, I want to take a closer look from the air!
