This scene is one of the memories I treasure the most, and that's why I wanted to share it in Hive's #tbt Thursdays. It had only been three months since the surgery that left me in the bones because of the time I was not eating well, but the music motivated me to sing, although my voice was not good, I could not support it with my diaphragm. The other difficulty is that it was not a normal choral concert, it was an opera, where there is a lot of movement, costumes and long rehearsal days, but before I got sick I was very excited about this production, in fact it was going to be the first time I would audition for a small role, but everything got complicated. On the other hand, my fiancée not only managed to get a role, but it was one of the leading roles, that of the Queen of Egypt.
Esta escena es uno de los recuerdos que más atesoro, y por eso lo quería compartir en los Jueves de #tbt de Hive. Solo habían pasado tres meses de la cirugía que me dejó en los huesos por el tiempo que estuve sin comer bien, pero la música me motivaba a cantar, aunque la voz no me salía bien, no podía apoyar con el diafragma. La otra dificultad es que no era un concierto coral normal, se trataba de una ópera, donde hay mucho movimiento, vestuario y largas jornadas de ensayo, pero antes de enfermarme yo estaba muy ilusionado con este montaje, de hecho iba a ser la primera vez que yo audicionaría para un rol pequeño, pero todo se complicó. En cambio mi prometida no solo logró obtener un papel, sino que fue uno de los protagónicos, el de la Reina de Egipto.
It was January 2020, a year that promised, but it didn't take long for the pandemic to start. We were starting in style with this Opera by Gioacchino Rossini which is not very popular these days. The chorale was still not that big, so sometimes I had to play a slave and wear my long white robe with which I could cover my surgery wounds, but in other scenes I had to be a soldier and go on stage bare-chested 😅 any slave could hurt me because I looked really bad and weak.
Era Enero de 2020, un año que prometía, pero no pasó mucho para que comenzara la pandemia. Estábamos iniciando por todo lo alto con esta Opera de Gioacchino Rossini que no es muy popular en estos días. La coral aún no era tan grande, así que algunas veces tuve que hacer de esclavo y vestir mi bata larga y blanca con la cual podía cubrir mis heridas de la cirugía, pero en otras escenas tuve que ser un soldado y salir a escena con el pecho descubierto 😅 cualquier esclavo podía herirme porque me veía realmente mal y débil.
In the world of academic music my girl is way ahead of me, she had already done very important solos, especially in choral symphonic stagings, oratorios and opera galas, but she had never done a full opera until that moment, so it was a really special moment. I remember moving heaven and earth to bring my parents and her mom, including our good friends and future godparents of our marriage. Just like in this video, all the attention was around her and I was just happy living that moment. When she sang her aria of course I purposely stood behind her to be in her final video 🤣
En el mundo de la música académica mi chica me lleva una gran delantera, ya había hecho solos muy importantes, especialmente en montajes sinfónico corales, oratorios y galas de ópera, pero nunca había hecho una ópera completa hasta ese momento, así que era un momento realmente especial. Recuerdo que moví cielo y tierra para traer a mis papás y a la mamá de ella, incluyendo a nuestros buenos amigos y futuros padrinos de nuestro matrimonio. Al igual que en este video, toda la atención estaba al rededor de ella y yo simplemente era feliz viviendo ese momento. Cuando cantó su aria por supuesto que me coloqué detrás de ella a propósito para salir en su video final 🤣
Many special musical moments have followed, but no one in the chorale at the time can deny that Mosse in Egitto was the event of the year. Had it not been for these four performances of the opera then we would not have done anything special in 2020. It was scheduled for 2029, but it was delayed, and what a good thing because I would not have been able to sing, always fate moves its pieces so that everything is at the right time. De no haber sido por estas cuatro funciones de la ópera entonces no habríamos hecho nada especial en el año 2020. Estaba programada para 2029, pero se retrasó, y que bueno porque yo no habría podido cantar, siempre el destino mueve sus piezas para que todo sea en el tiempo correcto. Me despido con esta maravillosa fotografía donde toda la gente querida se reunió en un solo lugar para celebrar el éxito de mi niña ❤️

Saludos amigo, que bueno este recuerdo y es fascinante que hayas tenido la oportunidad de poder estar allí y representar en esa actuación, la cual no se nota nada fácil tener que llevar ese gran ritmo y más aún ir al ritmo. Me gusto mucho el vestuario y es fascinante que se metan en el papel y poder llevar la creatividad a otro nivel y sin duda para ese fecha estabas flaco y a pesar de todo la música siempre allí motivando a seguir creciendo. Cada vez compartes grandes recuerdos juntos.
Solo el poder de la música hace posible que yo esté en escena en momentos así jajaja, realmente no fue fácil para mí, cualquier mal golpe habría sido de terror, pero me cuidé y me cuidaron los compañeros. Aprenderse la música tampoco es tarea fácil, recuerdo que estas funciones duraban casi dos horas, más recordar también las escenas, pero bueno, con práctica todo es posible. Agradezco tu apoyo David 🙏

Disfrutamos demasiado Mosse in Egitto, y de hecho este tipo de obras suele ser de lo que más amo hacer en la coral, lo malo es que lo hacemos casi que una vez al año. Jhoxiris es impresionante y deseo lo mejor para ella, y bueno, el resto de mis compañeros también tiene una mística muy especial, por eso aquí vivo admirando por cualquier parte que voltee. Lementablemente por problemas de conexión no puedo disfrutar del video, pero me alegra mucho que por esas cosas que la vida tiene hayas podido estar en esa obra. Todo tiene su momento y lugar.
