Cuando empecé a trabajar con mi manga “Ángel Guardián”, aún no dominaba el dibujo digital. Se me dificultaba mucho el dominar el lápiz en la tableta mientras miraba al monitor.
También tenía fallas en la anatomía. Practicaba constantemente pero no lograba aún mantener la proporción sobre todo en algunas poses o ángulos.
Eso no me detuvo. Seguí intentando y dibujando tanto como podía. Estaba trabajando en una empresa y mi trabajo era bastante demandante. Llegaba a la casa extenuada y sin energías. Preparaba la cena, me daba un baño, jugaba un rato con mi gatita Marilyn y me sentaba a dibujar hasta la medianoche al inicio. Luego, con los problemas de insomnio, se fue extendiendo hasta las 2-3 de la madrugada para irme a dormir y levantarme a las 5 A.M. y prepararme para ir a trabajar nuevamente.
Era una locura. Lo que me mantenía era disciplina y la voluntad de continuar dibujando no importara cuán cansada estaba. Muchas veces, terminé dormida sobre la tableta y me despertaba para prepararme e irme a trabajar.
Hay muchas escenas en los primeros capítulos que, al verlas hoy día, me doy cuenta la cantidad de fallas y errores de anatomía que tenían. Hacía lo mejor que podía con lo que tenía.
Así que tomé una escena de un capítulo para dibujarla nuevamente y ver cúanto había cambiado mi forma de interpretarla.

Hice un primer intento en el que no solamente me enfocaba en la anatomía sino en los detalles y el color. El resultado fue este:
No quedé muy satisfecha con ese coloreado. Sentía que le faltaba intensidad para resaltar la luz que emite la espada en un ambiente oscuro. Seguí practicando el coloreado al estilo anime y posteriormente hice una nueva versión de coloreado:
Acá ya sentí que logré manejar un poco más la luz. Continúo con mis prácticas de coloreado y buscando nuevas formas de expresar la iluminación. Tal vez más adelante, intente nuevamente hacer esta escena y comparar si ha habido algún cambio o sigo interpretando el claroscuro de la misma manera.

When I started working on my manga "Angel Guardian," I still didn't master digital drawing. I found it very difficult to control the pencil on the tablet while looking at the monitor. I also had flaws in anatomy. I practiced constantly but still couldn't maintain the proportion, especially in some poses or angles.
That didn't stop me. I kept trying and drawing as much as I could. I was working at a company, and my job was quite demanding. I would come home exhausted and without energy. I would prepare dinner, take a bath, play with my cat Marilyn for a while, and then sit down to draw until midnight at the beginning. Then, with insomnia issues, it extended until 2-3 in the morning, to then sleep for a few hours and get ready to go to work again at 5 A.M.
It was crazy. What kept me going was discipline and the will to continue drawing, no matter how tired I was. Many times, I ended up asleep on the tablet and woke up to get ready and go to work.
There are many scenes in the early chapters that, when I look at them today, I realize the amount of flaws and anatomical errors they had. I did the best I could with what I had.
So I took a scene from a chapter to redraw it and see how much my interpretation had changed.

I made a first attempt in which I focused not only on anatomy but also on details and color. The result was this:
I wasn't very satisfied with that coloring. I felt it lacked intensity to highlight the light emitted by the sword in a dark environment. I continued practicing anime-style coloring and subsequently made a new version of coloring:
Here, I felt that I had managed to handle the light a little more. I continue with my coloring practices and look for new ways to express illumination. Perhaps later, I will try again to do this scene and compare if there has been any change, or if I continue to interpret the chiaroscuro in the same way.
