Greetings dear readers today I give life and love to my blog with an artistic anecdote that reveals part of what fits me to do and that may be the desire of many music fans like me.
En la actualidad formo parte de un colectivo de mujeres que a través de la percusión del tambor nos expresamos y vivimos nuestras más sentidas emociones, reconociendo en cada toque creativos procesos musicales. Ha sido de mí interés en algún momento colgar vídeos en mi blog sobre lo que hacemos, acción que me he prometido presentar para este año, con las buenas noticias surgidas tanto para el grupo como para mí.
At present I am part of a group of women that through the percussion of the drum we express ourselves and live our most heartfelt emotions, recognizing in each touch creative musical processes. It has been of my interest at some point to post videos on my blog about what we do, action that I have promised to present for this year, of the good news emerged for both the group and for me.
En los 7 años que llevo conociendo y aprendido sobre percusión en especial del tambor, cada día me doy cuenta de su poder, y más aún de su ejecución que no es una cosa muy sencilla, más cuando existen tantas formas de abordarlo basado en un sinfín de digitaciones y géneros que lo comprenden.
In the 7 years that I have been knowing and learning about percussion, especially the drum, every day I realize its power, and even more about its execution, which is not a very simple thing, especially when there are so many ways to approach it based on a myriad of fingerings and genres that comprise it.
Con la práctica de este instrumento no dejo de sorprenderme y alegrarme por las tantas alegrías que me da alrededor de vibraciones y eventualidades que me hacen muy feliz, y una de ellas es participar voluntariamente en invitaciones, algunas lucrativas y otras a honores para apoyar causas o simplemente por placer.
With the practice of this instrument I never cease to be surprised and happy for the many joys it gives me around vibrations and eventualities that make me very happy, and one of them is to participate voluntarily in invitations, some lucrative and other honors to support causes or simply for pleasure.
Es así como hace algunos meses una chica que estudia percusión en la universidad nacional experimental de las artes UNEARTE de Caracas, está a punto de graduarse y por admirarnos nos invitó a acompañarla en su trabajo de grado, para formar parte de un concierto donde ella debe mostrar sus habilidades obtenidas durante la formación en el área percusión popular tradicional.
Thus, a few months ago, a girl who studies percussion at the National Experimental University of the Arts UNEARTE in Caracas, is about to graduate and because she admires us, she invited us to accompany her in her degree work, to be part of a concert where she must show her skills obtained during her training in the area of traditional popular percussion.
Acordar días de ensayo ha sido engorroso por toda la dinámica de vida que ella misma plantea y de las chicas que decidimos apoyarlas. Después de tantos intentos pudimos concretar dos breves encuentros con muy poco personal.
Agreeing on rehearsal days has been cumbersome because of all the dynamics of her life and that of the girls who decided to support them. After so many attempts we were able to arrange two brief meetings with very few personnel.
Sin embargo, ella confió en nuestra experiencia, pudiéndose dar estructuras a su propuesta que logramos engranar el viernes 03 de mayo, día dónde nos reunimos para buscar los instrumentos de percusión y abordar un transporte cancelado por ella misma, rumbo a un estudio de ensayo y grabación.
Sowever, she trusted in our experience, being able to give structure to her proposal that we managed to mesh on Friday May 3rd, day where we met to look for the percussion instruments and board a transport cancelled by herself, heading to a rehearsal and recording studio.
Realmente está vivencia hace años la había experimentado siendo el mundo de canto y la música un ambiente admirable y muy cercano para mí desde la vida escolar, ámbito en el que siempre me he sentido integrada y plena. Siento que la vida ha sido muy generosa conmigo al respecto ya que de alguna u otra forma aparece en mi camino el arte en sus diversas manifestaciones para impulsarme a seguir mostrándome a través de él, sin virtuosismos ni mayores conocimientos, simplemente sintiendo y disfrutando este hacer.
I had really experienced this experience years ago, being the world of singing and music an admirable and very close environment for me since school life, an environment in which I have always felt integrated and fulfilled. I feel that life has been very generous with me in this respect, since in one way or another art appears in my path in its various manifestations to encourage me to continue showing myself through it, without virtuosity or greater knowledge, simply feeling and enjoying this work.
Siendo así ese viernes pude sentir la dicha de tocar y cantar nuevamente en un estudio de ensayo y grabación apoyando a esta chica a quien me dio mucho gusto de verla desenvolverse, dirigir y ejecutar varios instrumentos de percusión entre distintos géneros y ritmos: bolero, merengue, salsa, joropo llanero y oriental venezolano (maracas), ritmos afro venezolanos (tambores), estando acompañada de algunos jóvenes músicos del sistema de orquesta.
So that Friday I was able to feel the joy of playing and singing again in a rehearsal and recording studio supporting this girl who I was very happy to see unfold, direct and execute various percussion instruments between different genres and rhythms: bolero, merengue, salsa, joropo llanero and oriental Venezuelan (maracas), Afro Venezuelan rhythms (drums), being accompanied by some young musicians of the orchestra system.
Mi admiración hacia ella fue mayor al verla tan segura y desenvuelta frente a sus profesores que hicieron cita en el ensayo para evaluarla y determinar si estaba lista para desarrollar su concierto demostrativo en su acto de grado a efectuarse en los próximos días del mes de mayo.
My admiration for her was even greater when I saw her so confident and uninhibited in front of her teachers who made an appointment at the rehearsal to evaluate her and determine if she was ready to develop her demonstration concert in her graduation ceremony to be held in the coming days of May.
Con nuestro grupo se basó en el género de percusión afro venezolano con tambores: chimbangele del estado Trujillo, quitiplas y culoe'puya de curiepe estado Miranda, golpe de San Millán de Carabobo, más un tema musical inédito de mujer tambor titulado “Todas somos una”.
With our group she based her performance on the Afro-Venezuelan percussion genre with drums: chimbangele from Trujillo state, quitiplas and culoe'puya from Curiepe, Miranda state, golpe from San Millán, Carabobo, plus an unpublished musical theme by a woman drummer titled “Todas somos una” (We are all one).
Mientras estuvimos allí ante la mirada de otros músicos que la acompañaron en la instrumentación y canto de los otros géneros, para mí fue grandioso percibir las polaridades del ambiente musical, en vista de que lo académico y estructurado de una orquesta se encontraba presente bajo directrices y partituras, mientras que nuestra música integrada a estos patrones, pero hecha de forma más orgánica, fue en esencia igual de sonora y atractiva al punto que los profesores que evaluaban a la chica con euforia se levantaron y aplaudieron nuestro ensayo.
While we were there under the gaze of other musicians who accompanied her in the instrumentation and singing of the other genres, for me it was great to perceive the polarities of the musical environment, in view of the fact that the academic and structured of an orchestra was present under guidelines and scores, while our music integrated to these patterns, but made in a more organic way, was in essence equally sonorous and attractive to the point that the teachers who were evaluating the girl with euphoria stood up and applauded our rehearsal.
Entonces esto me lleva a la reflexión sobre lo importante que es hacer arte desde el sentir más genuino sin sesgar que una forma sea mejor que otra, en este caso sensillamente deduzco que la música suena y llega cuando realmente tiene alma y se siente.
So this leads me to reflect on how important it is to make art from the most genuine feeling without biasing that one form is better than another, in this case sensillamente I deduce that the music sounds and comes when it really has soul and feel.
