Here's my entry for BeerSaturday 359 with the Blanche du Paradis brewed by Dieu du Ciel established on Montreal's Rue Laurier since 1998. I'd already introduced you to this brewery with their red ale Voyageur des Brumes (BeerSaturday 310).
Voici ma participation au BeerSaturday 359 avec la Blanche du Paradis brassée par Dieu du Ciel établie sur la rue Laurier à Montréal depuis 1998. Je vous avais déjà présentée cette microbrasserie devenue grande avec leur rousse Voyageur des Brumes (BeerSaturday 310).
Here is the map of Quebec where I can show you precisely the location of the brewery. This week we're staying in Montreal with the brewery Dieu du Ciel, which has a bar on Laurier Street in Montreal. But its brewing facilities are in Saint Jérôme, not far from Montreal by car.
Voici la carte du Québec ou je peux vous montrer précisément la localisation de la brasserie. Cette semaine nous restons à Montréal avec la brasserie Dieu du Ciel qui a un bar sur la rue Laurier à Montréal. Mais ses installations brassicoles se trouvent à Saint Jérôme, pas très loin de Montréal en voiture.

The brewery Dieu du Ciel (God of Heaven) was founded in 1998 by Jean-François Gravel, Stéphane Ostiguy and Patricia Lirette, three beer enthusiasts from Saint-Jérôme. It was an immediate success. By 2000, annual production of 800 hectolitres was no longer sufficient. Expansion came in 2010 with Luc Boivin, brewer and Isabelle Charbonneau, marketing and management, in new premises in Saint Jérôme (now 15,000 hectolitres produced annually). Their beers can now be found in most grocery stores in Quebec.
La brasserie Dieu du Ciel a été fondée en 1998 avec Jean-François Gravel, Stéphane Ostiguy et Patricia Lirette,trois passionnés de bières de Saint-Jérôme. C'est un succès immédiat. Dès 2000, la production de 800 hectolitres annuelle ne suffit plus. L'agrandissement arrivera en 2010 avec Luc Boivin, brasseur et Isabelle Charbonneau, marketing et gestion dans de nouveaux locaux à Saint Jérôme (15,000 hectolitres produits annuellement). Maintenant, on retrouve leurs bières dans la plupart des épiceries du Québec.
🍺 Tasting / Dégustation :
Blanche du Paradis is a Belgian-inspired white beer brewed with coriander and orange peel. It contains 5.5% alcohol. I didn't buy this beer, but it ended up in my fridge after a meal with friends. One guest had brought his favorite beer, and drank 3 of the 4 cans in the box. One was left for me to taste later. That's what I did on Friday 😀.
La Blanche du Paradis est une bière blanche d'inspiration belge brassée avec de la coriandre et des écorces d'orange. Elle contient 5.5% d'alcool. Je n'ai pas acheté cette bière mais elle s'est retrouvée dans mon frigo après un repas avec des amis. Un invité avait amené sa bière préférée, bu 3 canettes sur les 4 de la boite. Il en restait une pour moi à gouter plus tard. C'est ce que j'ai fait ce vendredi.
In the glass, the beer is slightly orangey yellow and cloudy, as it is unfiltered. It is topped by a thick white head. On the palate, there's a hint of coriander and citrus. I'm not a fan of this type of beer. But this one, as the taste was light and well-balanced in terms of acidity, it drinks well.
Dans le verre, on a une robe jaune légèrement orangée et troublée car la bière est non filtrée. Elle est surmontée par une épaisse mousse blanche. En bouche, on retrouve le gout de la coriandre et de l'agrume. Je ne suis pas fan de ce type de bière. Mais celle-ci, comme le gout était léger et bien balancé au niveau de l'acidité, elle se boit bien.
Design
Dieu du Ciel likes to put an artist's design on their cans. Here it's by Thaïla Khampo, a Montreal-based illustrator. It's not the only can he did, but it's always in a "very gentle" universe, as with this dreamy woman, with wheat ears echoing the beer in the background.
Dieu du Ciel aime mettre sur leurs canettes le design d'un(e) artiste. Ici il s'agit de Thaïla Khampo, illustrateur basé à Montréal. Ce n'est pas sa seule canette mais toujours dans un "univers très doux", comme avec cette femme, rêveuse avec en arrière plan les épis de blé faisant écho à la bière.

Wasn't expecting this... I thought it was a lot bitter. IMHO I don't fancy that type of acidity in beers... Not a famous opinion, I know 😅
