Ambos equipos vienen compitiendo bien, con los de Milwaukee entrando al partido como líderes de la división central en la Liga Nacional. Por ellos abrió Joe Ross, cuya recta se presentó en el orden de las 95/96 MPH pero descontrolada. Su primer envío fue a parar en la anatomía del campocorto Anthony Volpe. Luego Soto—la gran adquisición—tramitó boleto, aunque contando con la ayuda del árbitro detrás del home plate.
Ross, desde temprano metido en líos por cuenta propia, se recompuso ante El Juez y a base de sliders logró poncharlo, pero Verdugo protegió perfecto al tercer bate del Bronx sonando un jonronazo inapelable por el jardín derecho. Así, el abridor yankee Carlos Rodón—de ascendencia cubana—subió a la lomita del American Family Field con ventaja sin haber lanzado la primera bola. Yesterday I spent some time on Major League Baseball again, and from the Saturday schedule I chose the Yankees-Brewers matchup. Both teams are competing well, with Milwaukee coming into the game as the NL Central Division leaders. Opening for them was Joe Ross, whose fastballs were on the order of 95/96 MPH but a bit out of control. His first delivery went into the anatomy of shortstop Anthony Volpe. Then Soto, the big acquisition, got a free pass to first, albeit with some help from the umpire.
Ross, in trouble on his own so early, got back on his feet against Judge, managing to strike him out with sliders, but Verdugo protected the third Bronx bat perfectly with a home run to right field. Thus, Yankee starter Carlos Rodón, of Cuban descent, took the mound at the American Family Field with a good lead. He got out easily the Brewers' first two batters but left a piece of candy at the home plate—a four-seam fastball—to Rhys Hoskins, a former Phillie who thundered it to left field to put his team on the scoreboard.

La parte alta de la sexta le deparó todo un via crucis al relevista Thyago Vieira, natural de São Paulo, un trotamundos con estancias en Seattle, Chicago, y Tokio. Vieira es un lanzallamas, pero como sabemos, esto no es algo destacable per se en Grandes Ligas. El brasileño entró con rectas de 99 MPH pero muy irregular en su control.
Tras boleto a Soto, soportó un estético cuadrangular de Judge—sobre slider—por la parte más profunda del American Family Field. Sin dejarlo respirar Verdugo conectó su segundo hit del encuentro para ser impulsado de inmediato por un Rizzo que esta vez sí le dio "en el queso" a la pelota. Bombarderos arriba por 10. Rodón cerró su hoja del partido a ritmo de ponche, bordando una actuación sumamente meritoria.

Aprovechando al receptor José Trevino en la novena, los Brewers protagonizaron un anecdótico conato de rebelión del que sacaron 2 carreras que poco sirvieron para maquillar el marcador final (15-3). Los Yankees ahora exhiben un balance de 18-10, bien fajados con los Orioles con 17-9. Por cierto, este último también es el balance de los Cerveceros, que se sostienen medio juego arriba de los Cachorros en la cima de la división central, que está encendida.
