Por los calientes líderes de la división oeste del Viejo Circuito abrió el novato Yoshinobu Yamamoto, otro japonés lleno de herramientas y juventud irrespetuosamente recibido por el jardinero central Jazz Chisholm Jr., que hizo volar la pelota hasta los 404 pies. En todo caso, la alegría del bahamés fue anecdótica para él y su equipo. Edward Cabrera—el lanzallamas dominicano convocado por los de Florida—no se hizo justicia en la parte baja del primer episodio, transfiriendo sucesivamente a Ohtani, Freeman y Smith, y permitiendo acto seguido un grand slam cortesía de Max Muncy.

El dominicano George Soriano entró de relevo en el tercer capítulo con el mismo virus, llenando las almohadillas de Dodgers entre dos boletos y un doble a bate partido de Muncy. El derecho nipón de 25 años continuó navegando bien ante la batería de Miami, con excelente economía y oferta de lanzamientos, hasta que el designado dominicano Bryan de la Cruz pegó el cuarto cuadrangular del partido en la sexta, a solo que no sirvió para despertar a sus compañeros. El novato cubrió ocho entradas completas con un arsenal de cuatro envíos prácticamente indescifrable para los bates del estado del Sol. El último tercio del partido fue de puro trámite por decisión de ambos equipos. Así, los Dodgers extendieron su ventaja sobre San Diego a 6.5, aprovechando la derrota de los Padres por la mínima ante unos Cachorros que se baten duramente en la central. Muy pronto le echaremos un vistazo al equipo duro de la Ciudad de los Vientos.

The last third of the game was purely a matter of course for both teams.
