Hello everyone! Zak Ludick here from Cape Town, South Africa and this is a Warhammer 40k - The Great Unit Review Wheel! post!
However, on the 26th one, I have decided that it is big enough to call this series a Library!
What is it all about? It is not there to just give a stat. It is there to give MY review of the unit!
In this series, I will review one unit at a time, picking them randomly.
So let me spin the wheel again and see what I get:
Grey Knights, Strike Squad
10th Edition Index
The Grey Knight Strike Squad is the basic Battle Line unit for the Grey Knights - those daemon-killing Space Marines whose existence is mostly a secret to the greater Imperium.
I have been reviewing the leaders before. Now it is time for the foot troops!
They cost 120pts for a 5 man squad and 240pts for a 10 man squad. Thus, 24pts a model.
Let's see what you get for that!
Stats
Movement 6"
Toughness 4
Save 2+(armor/invul/Feel No Pain)
Wounds 2
Ld 6+
OC 2
Weapons
Everyone is armed with a Strom Bolter and Nemesis Force Weapon. For every 5 men in a unit, you can have 1x Special weapon (Incinerator, Psilencer or Psycannon.)
Ranged:
Storm Bolter - A 24" Range, 2 Shot, 3+ To hit, S4 AP0 D1 - With Rapid Fire 2
Incinerator - A 12" Range D6 Shots S6, Ap-1, D1 Torrent (Flamer), Ignores Cover.
Psylencer - A 24" Range, 6 Shot, 3+ to Hit S5 AP0 D1 gun with Sustained Hits 1 - good for anti-horde
Psycannon - A 24" Range, 3 Shots, 3+ to Hit, S8, AP-1 and 2 Damage each for anti- heavy infantry
Melee:
Nemesis Force Weapon:
3 Attacks, Hitting on 3+, S6, AP-2 and 2 Damage Each with the Psychic keyword.
Abilities
Deep Strike (They can be put into reserves an appear anywhere on the battlefield outside 9" of an enemy at the start of a turn)
Scouts 6" (They have a free, pre-game move of 6")
Sanctifying Ritual
This is, in a nutshell Stick Objectives as we like to call it in the 40k community. If they hold an objective, they make it sticky and you keep control of that objective until someone takes it away from you.
So you can tag an objective and move away and it is still yours. This is a suburb use for 120pts in an army where you might be throwing major points into big tough units.
As cool at the Strike Squad is, they are the most basic version of Grey Knights... the rest get even more elite!
So having an objective scoring unit in the army (or two) would be a great idea!
PS - I have these! But they are ALL the metal ones and I do not own any of the plastic ones... yet.
Thank you for reading!

Do you prefer homebrew standard chapters of space marines, specific chapters with named characters (i.e. Space Wolves), more specialist Deathwatch, or elite Grey Knights as an army to play or oppose?
The game allows for a lot of flexibility when creating an army.
You could create a homebrew Chapter with its own aesthetic but then use named characters on a "counts as" basis. For example, there is a guy that fields an Astra Militarum army with a General on a massive warthog. His Army has a South African theme and this general counts as Lord Solar Leontus.
I have some home brew chapter ideas for which I have made one or two models. I then have Space Wolves, Deathwatch and Grey Knights in my collection. I have used them all in battle in some or another stage but I have not used or played against Grey Knights in 9th or 10th edition yet.
I play against my friend who plays Adeptus Custodes which is super elite and I do play against the hordes too. I must say that I think that we need it all! I don't specifically prefer any particular enemy.
My best tournament result now recently came after I did a series of practice games against a massive variety of foes. When I went into the tournament, I was ready for anything. It was a lot of fun!
