Was another late night watching cycling. Did not watch to the end. Wake to a blue sky day with no wind. Photo of Coolangatta Mountain on chicken feeding trip - that walk told me to get moving
Let the day go by doing investing accounts stuff. Did get out a little after lunch on the bike. Target - walk to Comerong Island
Front end of the walk was for water birds - heron has just caught a frog
Pelicans paddling in the ripples
Cormorant drying off under beady eye of two seagulls
Looking back to Coolangatta Mountain
Tide has gone out. Left some interesting ripple forms in the sand behind this log
Crab moving along under the water
Onto the island - plenty of mushroom action - this one formed a casing over the branch
Multiple mushroom forms - large brown
A cluster around the base of a tree
Black form mimicking a log
Diaphenous white form
Location shot - at the start of the sand track that goes down the island. Was planning to walk the whole thing but came out without water. Did drink some from a puddle
Underside view. Had found greenhood orchids last walk as soon as the track moves up away from the water
Looks like nodding greenhood. Will come walking every two weeks - bring water next time
Not quite the shape of a ghost mushroom - maybe a oyster mushroom. Time to learn more
Found some more greenhoods. Behind were these mushrooms - classic photo challenge - which to focus on. Chose the little one worked well
Mini mushroom and greenhood rosettes
Staircase of large mushrooms - standing above where water level rises to
Budding helmet orchid - corysanthes fimbriatus is my guess - no spurs
Frilly mushroom makes another photo challenge - the back one is in focus
Greenhood just pushing out a bud
A layering effect on this mushroom growing on a fallen tree
Standing tall mushroom
Tall enough to get an underside photo
Context map shows the walk done. From the Shoalhaven Heads side around the front of the river where it stops in the dunes and then down the middle track. Did not quite hit the fork that goes to the beach. This is accessible by road and ferry but the drive around would take longer than walking from where I started.
The sign bothered me. We have just had the wettest summer in years. No need to have a solid fuel fire ban - just being over cautious
Walked back along the water's edge - saw this young man fishing. A little later saw his girlfriend on her phone. The photo captures the two modes - one person communing with nature and the other attached to the outside world. At least she was out there
Short ride to get to the start. Nice to be back able to do that
Stopped off at bowling club for weekly badge draw and one beer. Not my idea of fund but I did get to talk with some of my neighbours
When we were kids, Sunday dinner was often eggs. Did the same - breakfast for dinner - omelette under construction plus bacon and fried potato and chorizo
Turned into a big steps day with not enough water

Many mushrooms, different types. Crabs are running underwater. Very good photography. You've walked a long way
