Postcards from Thailand #51: Cats the way, huh huh huh huh, I Like it, huh huh huh huh

No. It's not a photo of a cat that's been squashed by an aircon. He lives under there, and has been doing for almost three months and we've no idea where he came from.

We first noticed him hanging around in the jungle at the back of the house, cautiously competing with the chickens for the scraps that the MiL throws them each morning and evening. I say competing, the chickens bullied him, often pecking him if he got to a tasty morsel before them. He would never come to me though and ran away if anyone got to close, but over time, and tempted by food, I eventually managed to give him a stroke. Not that sort of stroke!

So I started leaving him a bit of food where the chickens couldn't get it and suddenly, he's sat outside the door each morning waiting to be fed.

He's a young cat, probably part Siamese from his colouring and not very old. He wears an old, ragged blue collar with a bell and judging by the state of it, he must have been living out for a while.

The funny thing is, the wife's parents hate cats, but seem to have really taken to him. I caught the MiL looking for him when we hadn't seen him for a day and the FiL gruffly sharing the last of his favourite fried pork.

He's even managed to get round the wife, and trust me. That takes some doing.

So that's it. He's adopted us and there's nothing we can do about it, although he might change his mind next week. He's going to the vets for a checkup and his bollocks lopping off.

Not,so lucky now, are you cat?

At least I'll be able to post some cheap cat picture posts to recoup some of the cash spent on having his bollocks off and being microchipped ;-)

PS No, he doesn't have a name.
PPS Sorry about the title. I struggled to find the name of a song with a cat in it. Cat Stevens would have been far too obvious.
