Postcards from Thailand #56: Full On Tourist Mode at Coco Tams

in Actifit5 months ago (edited)

The wife had a fellow OT friend down from Chiang Mai with her partner for their first visit to Samui so we decided to go full-on tourist and give them the tour!

We did the waterfalls, big Buddha and cock rock before ending up at Coco Tams, a really well known beach bar and restaurant in the tourist ghetto of Fisherman's Village.

As it was Friday, the market was open, selling the usual range of over-priced fake stuff and general tourist-tat but we skipped all that as they wanted to see the fire show on the beach.

We got there about 5pm to grab a table on the beach and four bean bags and a good thing too, thirty minutes later and they were queuing to gey in. It is high season right now, so it's busy here.

The queue to get in!

Anyway, the fire show was spectacular. The food and drink, not so. The prices, definitely, but we all enjoyed it.

It's nice to become a tourist for a few hours, where we live, it's very local and being so busy with work, forget we live on one of the hottest tourist islands in the world.

I'll try and post more fire show pictures another day. It's well worth catching if you're ever down these parts.

Best wishes to all and hoping you all have a wonderful weekend. It seems being a tourist is good for your step count!!!

Good then! I'm gonna practice being a tourist! :D

Send traveler's cheques and a ticket, please.

Step up! 😆

Glad you're getting some fun in, N. Looks like a blast <3

Good evening :-) Travellers cheques? Are they still going? You look like you have your very own corner of paradise there, and with less temptation!

It was just an all too rare gentle couple of hours with friends. Would have been much better without the crowds though!

Soar high and catch the trade winds, you'll be here soon :-)

Nah... of course they aren't. That was my point :D

Eh... the landscape is indeed idyllic but we humans, again, are not so! I'd be outta here already if I could've afforded it. Still... sitting with stuff really does seem to make one become immune to it so I'll take this as another dubious blessing! They do say that your biggest challengers are your biggest teachers and all that (but fuck 'em anyway :D )

I will do my utmost to soar and catch the trade winds, my friend.

Enjoy the journey too, N <3

Swirly sparkly fire!!! Looks amazing. I would like to sit the touristing there. I think I would just about cope with sitting on a beanbag and drinking 😀

Happy New Year. Hope you and the family had a great holiday...OK, happy Burns night, I'm trying to catch up!

It was nice for a change and it really reminded me of 'proper' holidays of bygone times.

Beer, beach and beanbags is what I came here for 13 years ago so it's nice to finally achieve that dream, albeit for just a day! Slow start.

Anyway,

Can't hang around chatting as the wife is still in a hyperbaric chamber after seeing the tab...which wasn't that bad tbh, still much cheaper than Spain I'd opine!

You take care, thanks for dropping by and best wishes to the family :-)

I bet it was far cheaper than Spain. Last year when I went I was like a time traveller from the eithies going, how much for chips??!?! How much for a fucking hot dog, are they mad?!

Lol.

Burns night, ah that was good. We had haggis pakora again. Much yum!

Best wishes as always dude, get more of that touristing down you! :OD

that beach place looks sooooo festive! and so cool that they allow bean bags there. would be fun to lounge around in that all day 🥹 i see you had a great day!

It was a cool place to chill if I'm honest. Totally clichéd but a perfect holiday destination.

Hope you're well and working hard, I'm trying so hard to get the Hive mojo back so thanks for dropping by.

ugh if i could just teleport over there, i would gladly love to see for myself it's as chill as you say.

lol same. my hive mojo literally dropped when my doggy got injured

Wow, what a place to relax and enjoy the evening...

It was really nice, to be honest but just gorgeous a treat. There are so many more places that are quieter, on nicer beaches and a whole lot cheaper but Coco Tams is quite famous and had to be tried just the once!

Hope you're having the best weekend you can and wishing you nothing but serenity and calm :-)
