Damn, I almost walked into a low-hanging branch full of oak processionary moth nests this morning. That would have been very unpleasant because the poisonous hairs of these caterpillars can cause very unpleasant reactions in humans when touched. Skin irritation (severe itching, especially in the evening and at night, pustules and wheals), eye irritation, breathing difficulties and severe respiratory distress in allergy sufferers. That wouldn't have been a good start to the day, but luckily I saw the branch in time and was able to take a few photos of the nests instead as they were hanging so low and didn't require any risky climbing.
