El Jazz es uno de los géneros con el cual siempre me he sentido identificado, algunos temas populares están entre mis favoritos, sobre todo algunos estándares del Jazz. Hoy les comparto mi interpretación con la trompeta de «The Nearness Of You», una canción compuesta por Hoagy Carmichael y Ned Washington en 1937. La versión más reciente por la cual siento más conexión es la de Norah Jones. La melodía fue hecha inicialmente para una adaptación cinematográfica de El sueño de una noche de verano, de William Shakespeare. Esta tiene una forma AABA, con un total de 32 compases. Tiene una cadencia al final I-VI7-II-V7 llamada Giro de Vuelta, muy característica del jazz, blues y música popular. La armonía es sofisticada y brinda oportunidades para la improvisación. La canción está en la tonalidad de fa mayor, pero el acorde I7 se usa con frecuencia, lo que le da a la canción una sensación ligeramente jazzística.
Jazz is one of the genres with which I have always felt identified, some popular songs are among my favorites, especially some Jazz standards. Today I'm sharing my trumpet rendition of "The Nearness Of You" a song composed by Hoagy Carmichael and Ned Washington in 1937. The most recent version I feel most connected to is Norah Jones'. The tune was originally made for a film adaptation of William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. This is in AABA form, with a total of 32 bars. It has a cadence at the end I-VI7-II-V7 called Giro de Vuelta, very characteristic of jazz, blues and popular music. The harmony is sophisticated and provides opportunities for improvisation. The song is in the key of F major, but the I7 chord is used frequently, giving the song a slightly jazzy feel.
La afinación puede mejorarse con entrenamiento auditivo, el jazz es una excelente opción para mejorar nuestras habilidades auditivas. Su diversidad de ritmos, y sonidos hacen posible que nuestra mente se expanda y reconozcamos lugares donde no hemos estado. Algunos ejercicios están vinculados a los diferentes elementos de la música, como lo son identificar una melodía, y sus diferentes notas, también reconocer la armonía, la tonalidad y los acordes que la componen. Otros ejercicios nos ayudan a identificar el ritmo, y las diferentes figuras de notas. Y por supuesto, identificar el timbre de los diferentes instrumentos musicales. Entre los beneficios más importantes están la habilidad para poder improvisar, como también comprender el lenguaje melódico, rítmico y armónico. Te sentirás con mayor confianza al interpretar una pieza musical, y te ayudará a reducir el estrés.
Tuning can be improved with ear training, jazz is an excellent option to improve our listening skills. Its diversity of rhythms and sounds make it possible for our mind to expand and we recognize places where we have not been. Some exercises are linked to the different elements of music, such as identifying a melody and its different notes, as well as recognizing harmony, tonality and the chords that make it up. Other exercises help us to identify the rhythm, and the different figures of notes. And of course, identify the timbre of the different musical instruments. Among the most important benefits are the ability to improvise, as well as understanding the melodic, rhythmic and harmonic language. You will feel more confident when interpreting a piece of music, and it will help you reduce stress.
