Wild Flower #WednesdayWalk

Sweet William

Welcome to my wild flower #wednesdaywalk (hosted by @tattoodjay ). I didn't make it too far on my walk today. I decided to capture some of the blooms around my house. My flower beds are finally blooming. Starting with some Sweet William.

Multicolored Sweet Williams

I have several different color variations of Sweet William.

Purple Sweet Williams

Last year none of my Sweet William bloomed. Its a perennial and we started from seed last year.

Red Sweet Williams

Often perennials don't bloom the first year at least for me 😊

Daisies

We have a huge cluster of daisies that are starting to bloom.

Chickory

This is an actual wildflower - Chickory. Lots of these delicate blue flowers in the road ditches right now.

Red Nasturtium

We grew some nasturtium from seed this year. They have really taken off once we got them outside.

Nasturtium

You can eat both the flowers and the leaves. We have been adding to salads for a slightly peppery treat.

Hanging basket

We overdid it with seedlings as usual so we added some of the nasturtium to some store bought hanging baskets that were a little sparce.

Rudbeckia

So many flowers I couldn't stop taking pictures. The rudbeckia is just opening up.

Red Rudbeckia

I love these rudbeckia. I also have blackeyed susans but these varieties have such a depth of color.

Blackeyed Susans

Speaking of blackeyed susans...

Upclose

They are also in bloom. We even robbed a few from the ditches to fill in our flower beds.

Foxglove

Foxglove is another perennial that we planted last year but didn't bloom until this year.

Bee Balm

We have lots of bee balm which was also started last year. It spread and is doing well.

Milkweed

Our milkweed preserve is in its second year and blooming right now. Its just a section of the yard that had some milkweed, I let grow. We are liking it and working on other wildflowers to add. It attracted monarch butterflies all summer last year.

Onion head

Another experiment was planting some leftover onions from last years harvest. We are letting them go to seed and hopefully self seed for next year.

White cinquefoil bloom

White cinquefoil is a popular blooming shrub in our area.

White cinquefoil

It grows very slowly and we cut it back alot last year but it is coming along.

Field

Here's a local field. You can see some daylilies, blackeyed susan, queen anne's lace, and there are also daisies. Its fun to watch the different wildflowers bloom as the season progresses. Mother Nature is pretty good at planning a garden that stays in bloom all summer 🙂

Deer

I almost didn't include this photo because its not super quality but I wanted to share. Two deer were hanging in our side yard today. The cattails are along a small creek. The woods are full of mist in the early morning sun. The fenced in area is our garden. Everything is so green here this time of year ... and also green because its been raining everyday for the last week 😁 Not much walking in this #wednesdaywalk. But you know how that goes. Start snapping pictures and then an hour later...

Lovely colours… I love to see wild flowers around.
Glad you did include the view with the deer 🦌 so wonderful to be able to see them.
Have a great Wednesday 👋🏻😊

Thanks. We have a love/hate relationship with the wildlife. Deer and rabbits and squirrels wreck havoc on our gardening efforts. But we still love having them around.

You are welcome @steven-patrick 😊 oh I fully understand. Especially with a garden…
Still lovely to see 🤓

you have such beautiful flowers in your garden and even the wild flowers are gorgeous

Thanks for joining the Wednesday Walk :)

Thanks 👍 glad I got out this morning, its been raining all afternoon
