Sublime and Beautiful Sunday a few Birds

Sublime and Beautiful Sunday a few Birds

Good Morning I hope your weekend is going well

This post is for #SublimeSunday is inspired by @c0ff33a and #BeautifulSunday is initiated by @ace108.

For this week I am going to share a few shots of nirds I have seen on various walks

Starting with a Commorant, which are also sometims called shags from what I understand

Cormorants and shags are medium-to-large birds, with body weight in the range of 0.35–5 kilograms (0.77–11.02 lb) and wing span of 60–100 centimetres (24–39 in).

I find them quite cool, how they can dive for quite a while when getting small fish to eat popping down in one spot and coming up quite distance away, and how they stand proudly to dry themselves off afterwards, often with wings spread to dry quicker but some like in this shot just standing on somehting and looking around

Next up we have an Egret just as its about to land onthe water

Someone asked me once the difference between Egrets and Herons, Egrets are in fact a type of heron, generally long-legged wading birds, that have white or buff plumage, developing fine plumes often milky white during the breeding season. Egrets are not a biologically distinct group from herons and have the same build

Next up we have a male Mallard duck, I am slack for knowing all the names for different types of ducks but I can recognize a mallard :)

You're welcome. Hopefully the best for all of us.

I love seeing cormorants. We have a lot here in Scotland. My understanding is that shags and cormorants are different (although I'm not an expert). Cormorants are all black and larger, where as shags are smaller and have a white breast. I love seeing them drying out their wings on the rocks.

thats what I thought was the difference between them maybe I found a site with inaccurate info

Amazing photography!
Cormorants are beautiful, but are every fisher mans nightmare, when they come, you know it's time to pack and head home. Of course writing this where we fish from the shore only, with not much fish to start with :)

thats interesting I did not know that

They are fishing specialist's, I bet their diet is 99% fish and are able to swim under the water, they are also protected

God's beautiful nature creation 🙏
