Fort Rodman

Good Morning and I hope all is well with you and you have a good day

Today I will share some shots of Fort Rodman, taking on a variety of walks hence the different skies from shot to shot

I often visit Fort Taber Park, as it has a nice beach and a nice area for walking around this old Fort which I almost always walk around when I visit the park
Also known as the Old Stone Fort, Fort Rodman (known as "Fort at Clark's Point" until 1898) began construction in 1857 under the third system of US fortifications, and in 1862 construction became overseen by Henry Robert, author of Robert's Rules of Order and an Army Corps of Engineers officer. The fort, as built, had emplacements for 72 cannon in three tiers; a fourth tier was originally planned, but this was removed from the design to allow more timely completion. Construction was halted in 1871, and the fort as planned was never completed.

The fort is closed off and not safe and hence never opened to the public, I would love to see it restored but I have not heard of any plans to do that

I have at times thought about buying a drone for some different perspectives but have never got one as I dont think I would use it much, but if I did I think here is the foirst spot I would visit getting some cool perpectives of the Fort and even flyingit down into the fort since we cannot get in there

It is a cool old fort a pity it hasnt been looked after I would love to have explored inside it

Wow, those colors in the sky are pretty amazing! Looks like it was a beautiful morning that day!

It was indeed so peaceful and beautiful that morning

have a good day

Such a pity the old fort was not completed, striking structure one would love to get into. Makes for interesting photography, one I never tire of with lighting ever changing in your superb captures.

indeed a pity we cannot explore inside it

Interesting here in the Cape under the mountains are many tunnels, hidden spaces now only being rediscovered, the castle is nowhere near the sea as it once was when built either. Forts most probably used similar structures close to hand.

indeed a pity we cannot explore inside it

Your photographs @tattoodjay are colorful and beautiful, this fort is wonderful

Greetings @tattoodjay ,

Interesting, historical and in disrepair....really brings queries to mind..does it not.

A structure that has withstood time and yet unused....so very intriguing.

All the best.

Cheers!

Have a great day

You took nice pictures of this historical Fort

Maybe one of these days a wealthy person will donate the funds to restore/ finish it. They keep the outside so nice, it's a shame you can't see the interior. Great shots as always, a great early morning sunrise, one of the best times to be outdoors!

thats what I hope for maybe one day :)

Cheers and !BEERCheers and !BEER
